Friendly Staff, good atmosphere and good food what more can you ask for, other than an amazing view!!!
I recommend the hot beef and onion gravy sandwich, it is so amazing I stole half my girlfriend's.

We had read many reviews of places to eat in & around Bowness, and the Angel was on our maybe list, but so glad we did decide to eat there.

We turned up early evening mid-week in late September, and even without a booking were shown straight to a table. There was a good choice on the menu, as well as a board of specials.

We picked on chicken liver pate and the mackeral pate starters, and some more fish dishes for mains. I had the special for main, which was served on a mash which was only luke warm upon arrival but I didn't mind as the sauce served along with it warmed it up. Both courses were nice and better than we expected. Hubby opted for the cheese board for a dessert, which had a good selection.

If we were ever to visit Bowness again, we would make a return visit, especially for the Aussie wine we discovered there :)

Welcoming pub, restaurant and hotel. Never stayed but want to try it out. It's a lovely place with plenty of outdoor seating for the Summer and inside they have a roaring fire with sofa for those chilly and wet northern days! We spent last NYE in the pub and seen in 2017 with a great atmosphere, staff are fab and very happy in their work. All round a must visit, but please save me a seat!

Visited here for a meal Tuesday evening. Food was very nice, my steak was cooked to perfection and my wifes fish and chips looked good and according to her was nice. My 16 year old had a burger which he ate the lot so must have been good. Staff very pleasant

Escaping from an awful room at the Hydro Hotel (damp, mouldy, disgusting) we were extremely lucky that the Angel Inn was so close. Locals told us it regularly takes in visitors fleeing the Hydro. It's wonderfully cosy with a series of interconnected dining rooms and lounges - you feel welcome as soon as you step in through the door. There's a very comfortable sofa in front of the fire, the decor is smart but perfect for a country pub, and the food delicious. Even the toilets are really nicely done up, offering both soap and lotion- this place has been really well thought out.

Even better however are the staff! Louise and Mel and Paul could simply not have been more charming, understanding and helpful. They didn't go the extra mile for us - they went an extra marathon. Nothing was too much trouble! Can't imagine staying anywhere else when we come back to Bowness. I haven't even got to the beautiful landscaped gardens leading up to the pub, where you can sit and eat and drink with a fabulous view of Lake Windermere. It's all exactly what you want in a country pub for a weekend away.
