My partner booked us a table for my birthday meal - he rang in advance and told them it was my birthday! On our arrival they had a lovely table laid out with flower petals and happy birthday confetti :) also we were given a free glass of bubbly which was sub a lovely gesture! The staff were extremely friendly and we both had the roasted lamb meal which was cooked to perfection! My partner is a big eater and found the meal quite small but it was perfect for me! There is a carpark opposite which is free after 1800! The restaurant is quite small and probably wouldn’t go if you had a bigger party than 5/6, but it was perfect as a couple! Reasonably priced - thank you!

Booked "Balance" based on Trip Advisor reviews. We were staying in a Hotel locally and wanted a nice meal in a Bowness Restaurant. On arrival at the Restaurant we noticed it was empty so contemplated whether to search for alternatives but it looked nice and to be fair lots of Bowness/Windermere Restaurants and shops are actually closed in January at is so quiet, and it was a miserable wet evening. Hence the title, we were the only people in the Restaurant that evening. BUT at no point felt uncomfortable, the waitress made us feel very welcome, the food was excellent and not over-priced, the Menu was quite limited but maybe that was because of the time of year. So we had a lovely meal in lovely surroundings and would happily go back in busier times.

My wife and I ate here on a Saturday between Xmas and New year. the greeting was warm and friendly when we arrived. The service was a little slow to start with probably to do with a large party that was eating at the same time. The wait was definitely worth it as the salmon dish and the venison burger were both fantastic. definitely worth a visit.

10 of us booked a table for 8pm to celebrate New Years Eve. We were seated in the basement next to the kitchen, in a room which was also being used for storage. Apart from on the tables, there was little or no decoration which was a bit disappointing. It was later explained that the building had some water ingress problem which resulted in restrictions in allocating tables. I think this was also the reason for the outdoor scaffolding.
Anyway, we were seated and served promptly by a pleasant waitress, who I believe hadn’t been with the restaurant very long. The service was a little bit disjointed but overall was fine.
The menu has a good selection of reasonably priced starters and mains.
When the food arrived (all in good time), it was all very good. The lamb and salmon mains were particularly enjoyable.
The bill, inflated by several bottles of good wine, was around £45 per head.
Recommended, as long as you don’t dine downstairs.

We booked a candlelit dinner for NYE and found it to be perfect with great ambient lighting and individual personal service...the hot and cold sharing platter followed by succulent lamb and lemon tart were spot on...sadly the Lavaza coffee machine was out of action to finish a memorable meal
