Very enjoyable Thai meal for a group of 6 adults on a Saturday evening in season. Good menu with good choice of bottled Asian beers and world wines. 1st floor extends over adjacent shop and is spacious and airy. Servic was also good

No other word to explain standard of the food. First takeaway order fell on the floor of the restaurant as staff hadn’t bagged it up correctly. Second order - one meal missing when we got to our apartment - they sent it in a taxi so all not lost. Starters were fine. Mains were disgusting. Like I say - no other words can describe apart from ‘awful’.

We avoided the set menu as all the starters are deep fried, as they usually are in Asian restaurants. Instead we had the Ribs and Larb Moo( Pork Salad), both were excellent with good quality ingredients. Our main course of Duck in Jintana tamarind sauce, Lamb Mussaman Curry and Pad Thai were all delicious too.
The price was very reasonable and despite the restaurant being busy, the service was good and unhurried.

visited last night after a lovely sunny day in the lakes,
i was with 2 friends who are both originally from Thailand so know THai food much better than myself,
the restaurant was not busy but we asked if we could sit upstairs as the downstairs area seems small and a little cramped.
the waitress was very happy to show us to a nice table upstairs.
and was very good at getting our drinks and taking our food order.
that's when it went downhill,
i had ordered a curry with chicken which said it had potatoes in the curry,
it should really have said it was a potato curry with chicken.
3 small pieces of chicken in a very watery bland curry,
very small portion bulked up with potato.
my friends shared a salmon dish and a spicy salad,
they also said it was very bland and all dishes were warm rather than hot.
especially weird as it was in the 80s when we entered the restaurant,
i never enjoy writing a poor review,
but on this visit the meal was very average at best.
hopefully it was an off day as there are many good reviews on this restaurant as well,
we felt it was not bad enough to complain but definately was very average.

We visit Bowness on a yearly basis & this is our most favourite eating place & I suspect most other visitors to the town have the same opinion as they are usually fully booked, so best to pre-book a table.

My wife & I find the food first class & the flavours for us are well just the best.

We have seen some of the reviews on here that seem not to be very happy with service or the food , we have never had to complain about anything in all of the years we have been here. You need to try it and make your own judgement.

People saying they are too expensive , well if you look around the town the other restaurants are priced at the same levels. Portion sizes, well how much do you want to eat ??? All down to the person, also how much do these people actually leave on their plate to be thrown away
.

We now tend to only order a Main meal & desert with drinks, for the two of us the bill was £40.65, about the normal pricing for the area , so why others complain about pricing I don't know. We ate in 2 other restaurants in the last 2 days both at same price levels & they both gave us refunds due to problems with the food, never had this problem at the Jintana Thai Restaurant.

OK next visit to Bowness we will be booking a table again , all down to personal food tastes , give them a try ..

Thanks to all the staff, Ken & Gilda
