Stayed here as part of a walking weekend on a package which included an evening meal.
Pluses:
# Room size was good. Given a room with bath on request
# Location of hotel excellent
# Most staff were helpful
# Good TV
# Cheap bar prices. Ask for the downstairs bar where all drinks are half price all evening. Pint of beer - £1.40; Baileys - £1.25.
# Food simple but surprisingly tasty
Minuses:
# Walking tour's leader left car in staff car park (with permission) but had to wait almost 2 hours to get staff cars moved so he could exit. Resulted in considerable delay to start of walk. Receptionist did not handle situation well and was quite arrogant
# Whole place could do with a refurb. Bathroom OK but needed a deep clean
# Only one key card per room even though many in our group were sharing with someone they'd never met before
# The live entertainment is not to everyone's taste but lots of people enjoyed it so not really a minus

Room Tip: A lot of the rooms only have a shower so ask if you'd like a bath. Very welcome after a day out...

This hotel is let down by a number of things. Firstly, some of the reception staff have a bad attitude and could do with some customer service training. They are the first people you encounter when checking into a hotel. It lets the hotel down if your first experience is a bad one. Secondly, the rooms need updating and cleaning properly. I was on the 4th floor with a room like a cupboard and a very small window - very claustrophobic. Thirdly, the car park, although advertised as limited spaces does not tell you that the parking is extremely tight. At least two of our party, including myself have damage to our cars. Don't be fobbed off when they tell you that nobody has damaged their car in the past - just look at the number of scratches on the door into the car park area!

On a positive note, the restaurant and bar staff were friendly and did know how to treat customers.
Perhaps they could give some of the others lessons!

Room Tip: 4th floor rooms not good

it is always very interesting reading reviews as each both good/pro or poor/ against offer the users of this site a balanced opinion that reflects what contributors felt at any given time at any location. I have been supportive and negative in my reviews and feel i have always tried to offer a well balanced opinion as i do use this sight to help inform my own decsions.
The Prince Regent may be siad to be a Marmite Hotel. you either love it or hate it. I first experienced the Prince Regent last year 2011 and Weymoputh in the depths of winter is desolate however the hotel was what it was advertised as. We had the superior rooms on floor 1. Yes car parking is a real hassle. the meals were perfectly adequate and the four of us were all well satsified as we included a veggie.. We found it clean and very presentable albeit a litlte dated.
The dnace faciliites were excellent.
So we are going back soon and i will be pleased to see whether my experiences in 2012 meet my expectations or concur with recent reviews, watch thsi space!

Room Tip: definatley pay the extra for better rooms on the front - if you can get the superior rooms they rea...

Upon arriving we were told that we had to share one key card between the two of us which was slightly annoying.
We were then told that we could park at the back of the staff car park and that we would be easily able to get staff to move their cars in the morning as our group had to leave at a set time.
That was fine until the next morning, when it took us over an hour to free our car! We were told by the extremely rude receptionist that we would have to wait for the staff to finish their shifts before they could move their cars, and that it was an honour to even be allowed to park in their car park - I have never felt so insulted in my life!!!!
There were also dirty towels from the previous guest left hanging in the bathroom - not very pleasant.
The food is passable, the beds a bit lumpy and the staff generally friendly - apart from at reception. I have never felt so insulted in my life which is why I am only giving this hotel 1 star. Perhaps they need to give their staff a refresher course in customer service??

We stayed here for a last minute arranged trip to Weymouth.
The location is wonderful, with the beach running directly in front of the hotel! Parking is a bit tricky but I understand they share some limited off road parking spaces with the hotel next door.
Had a warm welcome at reception where they also reminded us of the eating facilities offered within the hotel.
The room was ok. Little bit dated but perfectly comfortable. Spacious bathroom bit again just a little dated.
We did sleep well and breakfast was very nice. Buffet style serving but plenty of choice with hot and cold options.
Overall I would recommend this hotel for a one night stop off. We are in our early 30's and found ourselves to be the youngest customers during our stay by some margin!

Room Tip: f you have the chance to do ask for a room with a sea view.
