Description: Originally a Posting House where people could 'hire' horses and get 'victuals', The Globe has been in Fowey for around 400 years. It has had many guises over the years but has always been a place of hospitality. Since taking over the building in March this year, it has been our philosophy to produce fantastic food using the very best ingredients Cornwall has to offer along with the warmest Cornish hospitality. Our Head Chef, Glynn Wellington, is Fowey born and bred, and proud to be Cornish and utilise the wonderful produce on our doorsteps. You may see him collecting the bread from Quay Bakery, just 50 yards away from the restaurant, or picking wild garlic in the fields around Fowey. Our meat comes from Kittows of Kilhallon just 3 miles away, and our mussels from beds about a mile away by sea. Our coffee is hand roasted here in Cornwall and our beers are all brewed in St Austell. Even our bubbly is Cornish from the award winning Camel Valley, near Bodmin. Over the coming months we will be restoring the letting rooms upstairs to their former glory and then be able to offer the finest Cornish food, drink and hospitality, right here in the heart of Fowey.

We visited without a prior booking and were immediately shown to a nice table near the window. The service and the food were first class we had for starters cheese soufflé and crab rosti, followed by baked cod and seafood mouclade both of which were divine.. we finished off with creme brûlée and chocolate brownies again both were superb. We then finished our evening with an entertaining conversation with the owner which made us feel valued customers. Will definitely return.

We came just for the cream teas, walked through the door to a lovely lady who was smiling away. She was not wrong she she said it was the best in Cornwall. I never wanted to leave the food was amazing and the tea rooms was great too. If you want your cream tea fix this is the place to be. Thank you from the Lucas family

Service we received from one of the waitresses (I think her name was daisy) was brilliant, and she was very friendly! Overall, the food was splendid, and topped off our visit to Fowey!

2 of us recently spent a week at an apartment in Fowey, and chose The Globe for a nice dinner out after reading reviews. This is a white tablecloth restaurant and prices reflect that. It was very clean. The crab was fresh, the linguine was homemade and the sauce was delicious. Our waitress did a good job, considering the fact that she had to cover the entire restaurant AND play front of the house hostess. I think there are some kinks that need to be worked out - a couple of things our group wanted were not available (though listed on the menu), and they will certainly need more help in the high season. I hope they work out their issues, because the food quality is quite high. I would certainly go back. I liked the fact that this was a quiet, clean restaurant and NOT a pub. My friends enjoyed their GnTs and said the selection of gins was quite good.
