Description: Big buckets of prawns, juicy steaks, fish dishes and breakfast buffets, ice creams, teas, coffees and even our own brand of locally brewed beer, the Winking Prawn’s style of shabby chic beach restaurant and cafe has been enjoying life at North Sands in Salcombe for more than 20 years. Sandy toes and salty paws are welcome come rain or shine for breakfast, lunch and dinner (but don’t forget to book in the evenings and keep an eye out for seasonal opening times). In the summer we also have a barbecue in the garden to enjoy as the sun goes down, and our dressing up box is legendary for bringing out your inner pirate, mermaid or fairy princess no matter how old you are. Opening times are seasonal, please take a look at our website for more information.

We ate indoors at a table which was much better than outdoors. The food was good especially the fish. Very much enjoyed .

Car park available and a council
Parking area next door. Fantastic sea views. Seating inside and outside. 2 toilets. Coffee mainly froth. Sandwiches were ok. £17 so expensive for a snack. May be other choices better but for us it should be about the standard of food served to us not location. Noticed it was busy but most plates returned with food still on them. May be a bad cook day. Suitable for large and small groups.

We went here with our pooch on our walk from south sands to salcombe! It is in a great location and had a varied menu! We went for fresh seafood and it didn’t disappoint! Also tried their own brand prawn juice beer! Happy to recommend and will probably go again soon!

Three of our party had different mains and each one came with the same truly dreadful salad. The usual lettuce and tomato but with cold frozen peas, sweet corn and huge lumps of cucumber. Being the only restaurant in a delightful area should not allow you to get away with bad food. The main ingredients were good; the way they were presented was not.

Hello, and thank you for taking the time to write your review. I am sorry to hear that this is what you elt about our salad as we take great pride in the food we serve, and our salads at lunchtime are usually extremely popular.

Of course nothing in there should have been frozen, so if that was the case then I hope you mentioned it at the time as in that instance something sounds amiss. Regarding the presentation, I am sorry to hear that it wasn't to your liking, but I am pleased that you enjoyed the main ingredients - presumably one of the lovely local seafood offerings that we are so proud of.
