Description: Big buckets of prawns, juicy steaks, fish dishes and breakfast buffets, ice creams, teas, coffees and even our own brand of locally brewed beer, the Winking Prawn’s style of shabby chic beach restaurant and cafe has been enjoying life at North Sands in Salcombe for more than 20 years. Sandy toes and salty paws are welcome come rain or shine for breakfast, lunch and dinner (but don’t forget to book in the evenings and keep an eye out for seasonal opening times). In the summer we also have a barbecue in the garden to enjoy as the sun goes down, and our dressing up box is legendary for bringing out your inner pirate, mermaid or fairy princess no matter how old you are. Opening times are seasonal, please take a look at our website for more information.

Only stopped mid morning for a quick coffee, but it was very nice, quite strong if you are usually an extra shot person like me. The service was very good and efficient. Great views from outside and I liked the rules of the car park

It’s a nice place and gets really busy. Food is ok. We have a bucket of prawns which were really cold. We were told they were meant to be that way but after the first layer (which weren’t nice) we realised they were frozen. They dealt with the complaint ok once we made a fuss and gave us our money back. The freshly cooked prawns in garlic butter were lovely.

This place caters for visitors to the beach. Three service is well organised with a wide selection on the menu, some injured a bit pricey though. Service was quick and all three food was fresh. Served it's purpose for us.

Had high hopes for this, heard good things... well it is either deep fried, served with sweet chilli sauce probably from a low end supermarket. All over cooked, had the crab cake, nothing home made about that followed by dry and over cooked seabass with terrible roasted but more like boiled in oil peppers. Frozen peas and some very odd veg - chips were good though, had an amazing meals other restaurants in salcombe over the last few days some higher end some very simple all cheaper than the winking prawn.

Really huge and very tasty crab sandwiches, great value. Casual dining, very crowded but friendly staff under great pressure! Outside is lovely, almost on the beach.
