Another lovely meal at no.55 - large group booking of family and friends.

Shame the duck and black pudding bonbon wasn't on the menu anymore but the fish platters and the starters went down like a treat.

Will be back again next time we're in salcombe.

Thank Katie W

Nice restaurant, food cooked well and presented well, most restaurants in Salcombe meet a high standard and No. 55 passes this test with ease, worth a visit

My wife and me came here last year and were very impressed. This year we brought a friend on a night the owner wasn't around and we were rather disappointed. We both had ribs to start that were very dry, my wife had a reasonably goof Thai Red Curry but there was far too much liquid for her liking. I had a wry disappointing steak that was quite greasy as were the mushroom, tomato and chips. Our friend was the most pleased with her chicken in a sauce dish. Not sure if the standard has slipped, or whether we chose badly or whether the lady boss's absence was a factor. Still though the staff were very friendly and welcoming to our pooch.

Booked for dinner for 5 of us and all seemed to be going great. Our first and main courses were excellent with good service. But something happened as we went to order deserts, the service just seemed to disappear at 9 o'clock and everything seemed to come to a halt. We had a problem with a couple of the deserts which was immediately resolved by the staff once we got their attention but his seemed to take a fair time to initially find a server and then to get the deserts replaced. This was a bit of a disappointment for us and particularly as the rest of the evening had been great. We've put it down as a hiccup and assume service will be fine on future occasions.
