“Relaxation”
Reviewed 20 June 2018 for a stay in June 2018

The location is remote and hidden away down a short lane. An old converted school house with the Manor House approximately 100 mtrs to the front right and a church with very old residents who kept themselves to themselves thankfully. Bit of a tight turn up a gravel drive and parking right outside the door. Inside is clean and tidy with two very large settees in the living room. The living room has a very high ceiling and high windows but let in plenty of light. Two downstairs bathrooms/showers. Kitchen was lovely however the fridge was set to minimum yet froze my fresh bacon! The bed and cushions were to die for. Very nearly brought them on in the back of the van. There is total silence so if you are looking for noise then this is most definitely not for you. Even the odd spider had slippers on. Be aware you may wake up to sheep, ducks or the odd goat on the front lawn! It is on dartmoor and when they say free range it is exactly that. The garden was very tranquil and a table and chairs were there for our use. There is a patio outside the kitchen/bedroom which is completely enclosed. The bee's were noisy but we will forgive them for that. The owners need to fit an outside light for the darker evenings or at least let you know where the light switch is for the one that is there. Would we go back? yes we would in a heartbeat. We visited Lydford Gorge (national trust) It was stunning but not for the unfit or those that don't like walking. Some parts are very challenging if you are unfit. Dogs on leads due to the narrow ledges and steep sides. Also visited Buckland Abbey also National Trust and again well worth the visit. Both locations within a 10-15 minute drive. Walk up the path from the cottage and you are straight on the moors. Stunning views. There is also a small public footpath from just in front of the property. Thanks for a fantastic stay. My wifes birthday treat was a priceless stay even if it was for just a few days.

“Like opening a present with a surprise inside”
Reviewed 24 September 2017 for a stay in September 2017

We had a wonderful 4 night stay at the Old National School, inside the school the interior was beautifully restored, with a sympathetic eye for the original building.
Lovely modern kitchen with everything you need, a pretty courtyard outside. Upstairs mezzanine with large bedroom, and through the old school room lounge, to a huge master bedroom and bunk room and additional bathroom.
We enjoyed the history of the school and church, also with Dartmoor outside the door, so much to explore.
Katie and Garth were very friendly helpful when we had minor shower problem during our stay, and as they live close were able to come up and fix it straight away. I fell in love with their pair of adorable pigmy goats,! Thank you for a wonderful stay.

Lovely cottage. Quirky and packed with history and old world charm. Right on the moor and perfect with the dogs. Garden is lovely (enclosed by a 3 foot high wall). A perfect rural getaway to explore Dartmoor.
