A very comfortable night - great that they welcome dogs in certain bedrooms and in the Snooty Fox pub. Excellent food, great real ale, staff were fantastic, couldn't do enough to help. Lovely garden. Great breakfast. Well recommended

We were booked in on our way through to Gatwick. The place is absolutely fabulous. It is clean well maintained and has a nice air of being well looked after. It has free wifi which was great after being off line for a number of days. Only mild criticism is that the waitress should at least acknowledge newly arrived breakfast diners and point them to the cold buffet whilst serving the earlier arrivals.

Found hotel online and stayed for two nights in the Aldaniti room (all rooms are named after horses!) which was over-looking the gardens at the back. It was a lovely room with a lovely bathroom and walk in shower - just a shame not a power shower but due to the age of the building and plumbing not possible! The hotel has off road parking too. The staff were very friendly and we ate in the restaurant one night and had a lovely meal. We also had lunch in the Snooty Fox and the sandwiches are highly recommended.
Findon is a lovely small peaceful village not far from Worthing or Brighton. Would recommend and would stay again.

We stayed here for one night and realised immediately on arrival that the place is basically a pub with rooms and is nothing like any 'country house hotel' we have stayed in. The management clearly want to attract wedding business and the whole place is really set up as a venue to that end - beware if you are thinking of staying at weekends as the function room is ten feet away from two so-called deluxe bedrooms. I had specifically requested a quiet room and was given Bradbury Star, just off the function room, it is basically a later addition to the house with 1980's upvc windows overlooking the garden. These huge windows opened up onto a patio area about 6 feet from our room and therein lies a big problem: a large, drunken party of non-resident drinkers had taken over every table and chair in the garden and proceeded to drink and shout at each other from lunchtime until 9.45 in the evening. On a hot day, with our windows open they were so loud and frankly so coarse was the language from these people that we could not sleep, could not even hear our television over the noise so close to our room. A semi-competent owner/manager would not allow patio furniture so close to a guest room. Privacy is a big problem in this room as the sheer net curtains are completely transparent and we had to close the huge heavy curtains in sweltering heat to drown out the noise. The bathroom has a clear glass window with an ill-fitting blind which means that after dark, with the light on, drinkers outside are passing within inches of a guest lying in the bath. The food was adequate, but the waitress at dinner was friendly and efficient. As was our waitress at breakfast. The bar needs a deep clean, particularly the mirrors which are grimy and the menu holders which are greasy. Trying to escape the noise from outside our room we sat at the front of the hotel but seating is close to a road and car park and the lounge, just inside the main door is filled with furniture sporting various stains around which flies hovered. We opted to eat in the bar as the restaurant is used as a walk-through from the garden to the bar and toilets. On returning to our room, which was stiflingly hot, the party outside was growing in number and decibels. One woman in particular was screeching obscenities at her husband.....for hours. There is nothing we now do not know about these people - we heard in loud and awful detail about their illnesses and operations, their exploits in Benidorm and their marital differences. The insults and general tone of this party was more akin to an East End fight club.. And where was the owner/manager when all this was going on? Certainly not discreetly moving this party to another side of the terrace or having a quiet but professional word to keep things a little less loud and obscene. A very nice chap had checked us in and I did ask him how long all this would go on for. He said they were lunch trade and would be gone by 10pm. They did go at 9.45 but should not have been allowed to dominate the patio/garden and hotel to the detriment of residents. This is bad management. The following morning before 8am two workmen arrived, moved some garden furniture even closer to our room and chatted loudly under our window. Again, we had to close the heavy curtains for privacy. On mentioning this to the woman who checked us out, I asked why two scaffolders had to be so close to our window she snapped 'SCAFFOLDERS???' At a loss, I ventured that could they be workmen of some sort, and then she said no, they are putting the marquee up!! If i had not been so exhausted and ground down by one night in this raucous pub I would have expressed surprise, as the garden is not exactly sprawling and the addition of a marquee would mean that resident guests would have absolutely no privacy, peace or view at all. This is the real nub here - Findon 'Manor' wants to be a venue as well as attracting 'country hotel' trade. Our experience proves that they have neither the size or quality of property or grounds, nor the skills required to do both.

Dear Guest
Thank you for taking the time and trouble to write your review on TripAdvisor.
I find it difficult to respond to such a jaundice review and to illustrate this the previous review on TripAdvisor which is headed “lovely stay” really supports my claim and mentions too Bradbury Star, the room that you stayed in– It is not my intention to respond to each and every comment you have made.
The party in question was a last-minute birthday party and in common with most events we cannot foresee how they are going to develop and obviously regret that they inconvenienced you so much.
The duty manager confirms that whenever he went out the party was not unduly loud. However, I accept that the tables could have been moved away from your window and would have done had we known is advance how many people would be attending in total. Likewise, guests should not transit via the restaurant. The party did leave at a reasonable time of 9.45 as you said which was well before he bar closing time. We would have happily asked them to quieten down or move away from your room if you had notified us at the time
The Snooty Fox mirrors are not dirty but a special type of mirror that cost a considerable amount of money. I cannot agree with your comments concerning the lounge as it is almost a daily occurrence that we get compliments about its appearance.
You mentioned that this was a particularly hot day which caused Bradbury Star to be hot and unless there was air conditioning most buildings would suffer the same.
Sheer curtains are as they normally are and the bedroom is fitted with black out curtains.
The majority of our guests I am glad to say enjoy this deluxe bedroom which is the only one on the ground floor.
On checkout when you mentioned the scaffolding, I was taken aback as I was unaware of scaffolding but did realise and explain this was the marquee company that arrived at 8.20am to erect the marquee required for the following days event for a marquee.
The garden is extensive which lends itself beautifully to marquee events which are always exclusive to the person that books.
We are a successful hotel looking after many satisfied guests and regret that you were so unhappy.
Also, we have been awarded a TripAdvisor certificate of Excellence for the last five years
