“Comfortable Home”
Reviewed 12 November 2013 for a stay in November 2013

This large family home was easy to find and with plenty of space for 4 cars - 2 of which could be in a garage. The location was good with easy walking distance to Buxton as well as lovely walks for the dog. Everything we needed was in the house, and on arrival we were greeted and shown what was what etc. The bedrooms were of a good size - especially the one with the en suite - and if there is any criticism, it is that some of the mattresses were, in the opinion of those who slept in them, a little too soft. As we were a large group, there was plenty of space to either be together, or be in a different room if desired. For a group of 5 couples, 2 small children and one dog - perfect.

Thank you for reviewing our property. Pleased that you found it 'perfect' for your groups needs.
In our opinion there is nothing worse than a too hard mattress so to overcome this we supply toppers for our firmer mattresses, easily removed by the end user. We take guest comfort seriously!

“This provides the perfect venue for a family get together”
Reviewed 24 September 2013 for a stay in September 2013

Having been invited to a wedding in Buxton we needed to find some weekend accommodation which would provide for three generations including two toddlers and a four month old baby, travelling from different parts of the country. Wellwood Lodge was perfect in that there were sufficient spacious bedrooms as well as generous living space, which gave ample opportunity for us all to have a relaxing and sociable time together. The large dining table is a real plus point and at no time did we feel cramped.

An added bonus was that the wedding reception was within walking distance of the house.

We definitely recommend this house for a short or longer break in a lovely area of the UK.

“Perfect property and location for a large group”
Reviewed 10 July 2013 for a stay in July 2013

We've just come back from a 3 night break at Wellwood Lodge. The house was perfect for our large family gathering, especially the huge dining table that we could all sit round together. It had everything you could need and was very clean. The garden wasn't huge but had enough room for the kids to play and there were plenty of outdoor chairs for the adults. We didn't see a BBQ but had taken our own. The house is in an ideal location to walk to the centre of Buxton or up into the hills behind. I would definitely recommend this property and the good communication we had with the owner and manager.

“Good for a family re union”
Reviewed 5 July 2013 for a stay in July 2013

Just returned ( 2nd trip ) from a week's family holiday in this house, which my sister booked,- 3 generations of extended family from different parts of UK - Buxton spa town in the Peak district, has a range of attractions and network of other places within bus/ train journey away for the elder members who did not wish to drive. - and cycle hire for those who felt able :)
Roomy clean house on 3 floors with useful downstairs loo/ shower room, lots of equipment in the kitchen and a utility room with washing machine/tumble dryer should you require it. - Big lounge, decent dinning room, cosy conservatory, sun terrace on top of garage and small garden to the back if the sun decides to shine :) and a downhill saunter to the town centre so no need for cars ( although uphill on return so if you are food shopping for 12, car - or a wheeled trolley! to be considered lol )
Pavilion gardens worth a stroll, frequent markets held in the Pavilion, range of local shops, supermarkets, charity shops, outdoor shops ect, nearby villages with regular markets too and different cycle routes and walking routes - a call to the tourist information to supply information of interest beforehand a useful tip, but there is some booklets available in the house, to help make the most if you wish to explore.
Only slightest misgiving is the street is very crowded for parking, so the parking for 4 spaces comes with 2 in the garage and 2 positioned behind, which meant sometimes meant a re jig with cars if one group wanted to travel (car in garage ) and another wished to stay put - car blocking - but fine for us as it was all family.
