Gurkha Tingmo Palace
Ranked #2 of 123 Restaurants in Buxton
Certificate of Excellence
Description: Gurkha Tingmo Palace is an Authentic different kind of Nepalese, Tibetan, Indian and Chinese restaurant. We specialise in preparing food using minimum of oil, no artificial colourings or preservatives. Born in a nice city of Hyderabad in India our Executive Chef Ramu Bhusal originally started his chef carrier in a Hotel Rizz Plaza residence, Amritsar (1993-2003). Ramu moved from region to region learning how to master the complexity of Indian, Thai and Chinese cuisine, before moving to Orient Pavilion Restaurant in Dubai (2005-2009). After which Mr Bhusal moved to United Kingdom and started at the prestigious Jimmy Spices Buffet Restaurant in Birmingham. Then he moved to London and started to work in Everest Restaurant as a Head Chef. We have Shree Gopal Ghimire - another qualified Executive chef who started his carrier in JI JA JI Restaurant in Derby (2006-2009) then worked in Shalimar Restaurant, Matlock as a head chef till 2016. At Gurkha Tingmo Palace we take pride in our qualified award winning chefs that creatively combine and balance the flavours to conjure up exquisite dishes, a tribute perhaps to our belief in good customer service, quality produce and the importance of a comfortable environment for our guests to appreciate the wonders served by our kitchen. Our Menu is based on the highest quality produce and fresh seasonal ingredients from all corners of Nepal, Tibet, India and China. We specialise in a large variety of dishes from the sub-Continent whether they are vegetarian or non-vegetarian. And all our dishes are served by our friendly and attentive staff. Gurkha Tingmo Palace is the perfect setting for special occasion, dining with friends and loved ones, or for larger parties.

The Nepalese curry we had here was mouthwatering. You can tell they use fresh herbs and ingredients, it makes such a difference. We’ll be back!

Had my first taste of Tibetan food this evening & it was delicious. The clean, fresh taste of food just prepared, flavours standing out brightly.
I arrived early evening & was the first customer.
As the restaurant became busier the staff covered all tables, not just staying with one table but working together in a way that kept things moving & no one was left waiting.
They were all attentive, efficient & smiling. A delightful experience which I shall soon be repeating. Thank you.

While visiting Buxton for my birthday with a group of friends I wanted to pre book a table for Saturday night. I did this on line and had my reservation confirmed within a few hours. When we arrived at the restaurant looked busy and we were shown to our table upstairs. We all ordered a different meal. Some Chinese, some Indian and some Nepalese. I was a little concerned with the mix of cooking styles when I first looked at the menu but I needn't have worried. Every dish was superb and the service was brilliant. The wine choice was good and we had a lovely Sauvignon blanc. We all had starter and main and thought the prices were very reasonable.
I would recommend this restaurant.

We arrived about seven thinking we were early enough not to need a booking but restaurant was nearly full. However, we received a friendly welcome and were shown to a table without fuss. Staff were very attentive and explained the comprehensive menu and we enjoyed a very tasty meal in a pleasant atmosphere.

Ate here for one meal. A short walk from our B&B. First time to eat Nepalese food. Good service and tasty main courses. Quiet on a week-day evening.
