Owner description: Built for the second Duke of Atholl in 1758 and restored in 1953, this folly sits on a rocky outcrop overlooking the turbulent Black Linn Fall, which affords fine views of the distant woodlands.

This a beautiful walk to do be it with a dog, loved ones or on your own and the viewing spot really allows you to marvel at the falls

Always worth popping into this wee folly to admire the magnificent Black Linn Falls from the viewing platform when you're taking a walk through the Hermitage (or if you need to take refuge when it starts raining!). The falls are best after it's been raining for a day or two. The place can get a bit crowded though with the world and his wife at weekends in the summer months.
Don't let the big door put you off - the place may look closed but the door does open.

This is a small building with a viewing gallery right above a spectacular rocky waterfall. Would definitely recommend visiting this along with the entire Hermitage walk if you're around.

Started at the car park with complete inability for the French to buy a car park ticket, and unable to read the sign that directed people to the other machine.
So we knew it would be fun when they were faced with two doors entrance to the hall, neither door working the same as the other.
Once into Ossianic hall it's a great view, noisy but perfect.
In a typical British way we all waited our turn for photo opps and then had a quick look and returned....why can't the British share a little space for very long?
It's a view that never fails to deliver....and have a read of the walls too!

I first became aware of this area in the early '70s and the Hermitage home of Ossian's Hall has been a firm favourite since.
The updated version I believe is very popular for weddings and all manner of celebrations but for me it is the portal to the famous falls at the other side that sets it apart. What a view and what an experience, wonderful.
