Had lunch here recently as was passing and thought it looked ok for a cheap and cheerful lunch - i was given blue moulded bread on an open prawn sandwich (which in fact was only one flimsy slice of bog standard bread) covered in tiny wee prawns with not even a bit of salad garnish but only a spot of coleslaw - it was £6.95 which was overpriced. I showed the staff the mould and they said changed it - it then came back toasted which it hadn't been before so very strange - needless to say i couldn't eat it. I then ordered coffee and that was the cheapest undrinkable instant coffee i have ever had. It was horrendous.
Jacqueline I have many issues with the review you have left.
The fact that your bread had a tiny piece of mould on it is true and as I (being the person that served you apologised for). It was not bog standard bread it was Warbutons bread which is wrapped in waxed paper which in a hot kitchen can make the bread mould. It was an oversight on our behalf and we did apologise. The fact that it did not have a wee bit of salad with it is an un truth a flat out lie. Our open prawn sandwiches come with lettuce, tomato and cucumber on top of a TOASTED slice of Orange Warbutons bread, nothing flimsy or bog standard about it and our coleslaw is home made, fresh everyday. As for our coffee if you consider Dow Egberts undrinkable and cheap then you must have very high standards. We are a pub not a coffee shop or a café a pub, we specialise in alcohol not fancy coffees. As I remember you left nothing on your plate and the 6 or 7 other people who were in your party didn't have any complaints, and if they did they certainly didn't voice them. Our food is pub grub, home made from the soup to the steak pie, our fish is bought locally I will pass on your complaint about the size of the prawns on to the fish man. We have never in 12 years had a single complaint about our food. Our cooks reputation for her cooking is known far and wide and people return time and time again. It was unfortunate your bread had a TINY piece of mould on it but your review is harsh, unfair and untrue.
