At last a some nice weather after al the rain. Snelsmore Common was rather wet and muddy underfoot and fairly busy with families finding something to do in the countryside. Good views and pleasant walks. We accessed via Donnington Castle

This is a beautiful woodland park and lowland heath with a number of walking tracks within the park boundary as well as longer footpaths going out towards Donnington Castle and Bagnor. A great location for a Sunday afternoon walk.

This country park has little in the way of facilities apart from a toilet block and a car park. But walk for a few minutes and you are in the heart of an ancient unspolit landscape complete with bog plants, fungi, wild heathers, moorland plants. A paved circular path will be great for buggies or wheelchairs, and there are loads of paths beckoning to those who wish to explore woodlands, ponds and so on, though some routes are steep and rocky. Well worth a couple of hours...don't be put off if the car parks are crowded, it is easy to get away from it all in a few steps.

The park is really beautiful and great for walking/running/dogs. The tracks are well signposted and link up with other footpaths/bridleways if you want a longer walk. You'll see plenty of wildlife if you're quiet such as deer and the ponies. The car park is a good size and easily accessible from Newbury. There are picnic benches dotted about and a coffee van as well if you didn't bring your own snacks.
