“Average accomodation”

We stopped at Cayton Bay for 3 nights (7th-10th October 2011). The check-in is confusing as it is not in the main reception but in the show room on the complex. Once this was found we were quickly checked in and given a map, directions and the keys to our caravan.

The caravan was 'Bronze' level and was roomy but basic with 2 bedrooms (one double with en-suite toilet and 2 singles), a small bathroom with shower and toilet and a kitched/living area. There was lots of storage space.

As we had won a free weekend here we weren't too bother about the caravan as it hadn't cost us anything.

The show room was large and the acts at night were average, the entertainment staff were very good though and were always on hand to help. Be warned, the cost of the drinks in the show room were on the steep side, over £8 for a pint and a large white wine. we found the pub just over the road was alot cheaper - £6 for the same drinks !.

The resort is a good base to explore the area being near the main road connecting Scarborough and Filey.

I would only go back if it was free again, its not worth the price printed in their holiday brochure.

My family and i have just returned from a 4 night stay at cayton bay and we loved it. It was our 1st time at cayton bay and we can not wait to return for another holiday. The entertainment was fantastic really good family fun, the team stars were fantastic. We stayed in a gold plus caravan and it was lovely it had everything that you needed from a fridge freezer to crockery and cutlery. The swimming pool was clean and well kept and my kids had great fun playing in the pool there was also an outside play area which entertained them for a while. The boathouse provided a great value meal for us and the kids with a soft play close by. The little shop situated on site was stocked with your every day needs at reasonable prices. Overall this was a great family holiday at a great affordable price.

just returned from a 4 night stay at Cayton bay, decided to take my god son to Cayton bay, as didn't want to go to a big site such as primrose and felt this would be better for a younger child. It was fantastic.

On arrival we were early but we were able to use the faciltiies so went along to soft play and had a drink. at 1.30 we went to check in as we had a platinum carvan and although a little early did not have to wait and we got our keys straight away. We were amazed by the caravan, it was lovely. We had not paid a great deal for the caravan £200 for 6 people for 4 nights. We had all the facilities we needed plus more. noticed in the caravan that there were some damages, but wasn't suprised as have stayed in caravans at various sites my whole life. I went along to reception to advise of the damages to ensure that we would not be blamed, or charged for these. The receptiontist was shocked and informed me that someone would be around to fix the broken items and sure enough they were round the next day.

The pool has never changed since i went there as a child, but it was still fun and although the music a little loud at one end of the pool and near one lot of changeing rooms, was ok. I found the staff at the pool helpful.

We went along to the childrens club for 0 - 5;s which was also good, there was colouring in, games, songs and all the children got a certificate at the end off it. Evenng entertainment in the show bar was also good, included all the family from tots to adults. The bar prices are high but draft beers were ok,a nd i bought the blackcurrent and water intstead of fruit shoot to keep the costs down.

Little shop on site was also good and stock a god range of items, we did our shopping at the tesco in filey which was really easy to find.

the best part for us was the soft play, clean and enjoyable for all, yes there was some kids in who were older, but this attraction is to not regulated by staff, how ever bar staff are on hand if there are any problems. I informed the staff that there was some damage occured on one of the stair cases, and this was closed and the soft play repaird within 24 hours. Parents were welcom to enter the soft play with their chidlren and with it being in the bar and free!

Unfrotunalty when i checked out we left some items of toys in the carravan. when i rang the site, they went and got the items out of the carava and had them ready for me to collect..

Its defiantly a place i would go back to.

Just returned from a 4 night midweek break at Cayton Bay booked using Tesco club card vouchers. Didn't pay much but expected better.

Accomodation
We stayed in a 'Gold' 3 bedroom caravan. Standard was pretty good but in urgent need of a deep clean. Everything had a sticky feel to it, bathroom stunk, carpets clearly had signs of dog despite a no pet policy?! Let's just say I'd not want to experience the bronze caravan!

Facilities
Swimming pool - seen bigger and cleaner puddles. Music so loud that my 15 month old daughter was terrified. When I asked the lifeguard if it could be turned down I was grunted at. Clearly the music is for the entertainment of the staff rather than paying customers.

Kids play area - outdoor play area OK. Indoor play area - that same sticky unclean feeling as in the caravan.

Didn't use the entertainment complex other than the bar. Dirty and over priced, staff rude beyond words. Pub across the road offered more reasonably priced drinks in a happier environment.

Why a company of Tesco's standing is associated itself with Park resorts is beyond me!

Would not return under any circumstances.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here - Mick and his entertainments team worked hard at welcoming families and getting the kids involved from early morning clubs to dancing later in the evening. Decent accommodation (Bronze), decent food (although slightly expensive) prompt bar service (again a bit expensive) and good entertainments area.
Our only real disappointment was with cleanliness in the swimming pool building. Despite reporting filth on a changing cubicle wall and filthy urinals and WC's in the gents toilet (and I mean filthy) to both pool staff and reception, nothing was done before we left. The pool is suitable for young children to play in, too shallow and short for anything more but decent fun.

Room Tip: Check thoroughly before unpacking
