Went there for a few days, as we thought. Dinner the first night, roast lamb was tough and gristle, the roast potatoes were hard to cut and dried up on the inside. Things got no better for breakfast. Porridge came out as a thick solid lump of glue. The waiter was sorry and gave me a small jug of milk to soften it. The toast was soggy and very undercooked.. Dinner fruit juice £6 roast lamb £13 2 scoops of ice cream £6 utter disgrace

Your partner has already left a review below, I am sorry the meal wasn't to your liking, we have invested a considerable amount of money, time and love into the Elizabeth and having undergone a recent refurbishment of the ground floor we have had nothing but positive feedback since reopening. Our guests have in particular noted how delicious the food is (as many of our reviews state), our kitchen team would be disappointed to hear your comments. We don't serve food juice as a starter and certainly wouldn't charge £6 for it. I am sorry the Elizabeth wasn't for you.

Booked on the phone for a 4 night break commencing 21st April. I requested a large double en-suite with a sea view and was told the room was large with a sea view and balcony. When we arrived we could not believe how small the room was. It was barely bigger than a single room. I unpacked and there was insufficient room for my partner to unpack her clothes. There was a space of about 12" between the edge of the bed and the wall. Then to dinner. My partner ordered roast lamb but it turned out to be roast gristle. She complained to the foreign waitress but the complaint was ignored. We complained at reception the next morning about the size of the room and told there were even smaller double rooms than that. We were offered a twin for the 2nd night but were told that if we wanted to stay for the 4 nights we would have to move, pack and unpack to a different room every night. So we decided to check out and return home. Terrible terrible value at £173 per night!!!!!. Goodbye Sidmouth.

Room Tip: Rooms are so small-don't bother

I am sorry both yourself and your partner were disappointed by the room when you stayed with us, we have many guests that stay with us who love the seaview room you stayed in, you can sit in bed and look out to sea or spend time of the balcony looking over Lyme Bay.

We stayed for three nights and found all of the staff to be friendly and helpful. The room was an adequate size with the usual tea and coffee supplies renewed daily. Breakfast was excellent with a large choice to suit all tastes and appetites. My only gripe was the noise of bottles being emptied into the bins outside early in the morning at the establishment next door - made louder because of having the window open, which I imagine would be a given in the height of summer.

We stayed in March for a couple of nights, our third visit in just over a year. The fact that we've been back three times says it all. The staff as usual were absolutely terrific. Room was really comfortable, if anything a little too warm. We were initially not too impressed with the new layout of the restaurant. It seemed less personal than last time we stayed. It was more difficult to mix with the other guests than previously. That's being super critical as you get used to it. First nights food wasn't as good as normal, but it was apparently the normal chefs night off.second night back to the expected quality. Overall it was terrific as usual. Can't wait to go back.

With friend we stayed at this hotel for the fourth time in February and believe me we could not fault it in anyway.
The rooms are so comfortable, warm and clean and the view spectacular.
Since our last visit the hotel has been refurbished to a very high standard, a lot of thought has gone into this and has paid off.
The dining area was great as again was the menu, the staff were so helpful and attentive.
Some guests didn't like the changes but then you can't please everybody.
We hope to return in the Autumn for another visit.

Room Tip: A sea view if you can
