We stayed here for one night whilst visiting the area and enjoyed a very comfortable and relaxing night. The setting is beautiful with outstanding views of the surrounding countryside. The staff were very accommodating and helpful and the breakfast was lovely. This hotel is very traditional and provides a very high quality of service which is not seen often enough. We will definitely return for another relaxing break.

We had the a la carte menu which was lovely unexpected canapes and an amuse bouche before we started the food was very attractive to look at and super to eat. The portions are not large but were very flavoursome so much more would have been too much and we would not have managed the lovely deserts. The very unusual lemon meringue was delicious. All though this is a very elegant looking hotel it felt very comfortable and the staff were all very friendly and helpful and looked after us well

we stayed here for one night en route to cornwall. we have stayed here before and knew how nice this hotel is. we had a large room on the first floor with a beautiful view across the fields. with sofa tv in one part and a large bed in the other part. we had a really nice bath with a separate walk in shower. We started by having drinks in the bar and then we had a 3 course meal in the restaurant and this was superb. the food is excellent. The breakfast is really nice too.
This is a spa hotel

The best thing about this hotel is the setting there is beautiful countryside all around. When we arrived we were impressed with the building .On the deal we had we should have had tea and cake on arrival but there was no mention about that.We had a suite which was big and comfortable but our main complaint was the food.and the prices .The starter was not enough to put in your eye and the main course was a very dry peace of chicken with very little else all of which had no flavour at all.The breakfast table with the cereal and fruit was very nice but the cooked breakfast was awful the bacon was like leather the poached egg was not cooked and the sausage was full of cereal obviously very cheap going by the other reviews i have read i can only assume that there has been a change in the chef..The average bottle of wine is £40 and we paid £26 for three drinks.Very disappointing

Dear Lynda N,

Thank you for the review following you visit, glad to read that you liked the hotel and setting for your stay. Sorry to read that you did not find the food offering to your liking and also that you felt the prices were too high. We do check that our offering and pricing is in line with quality and local market pricing, also our wines and drinks are priced accordingly with the same review of market and the quality so again we are sorry if you felt these are priced too highly.
Thank you for the feedback and we will use this to ensure we are offering the desired standard of product to our guests.

Kind Regards

Thanks to our grandson Scott and Lorda's gift card for an afternoon tea we couldn't have had a better tea anywhere. With three different fillings finger sandwiches, sausage rolls with a tomato chutney, scones which were crispy outside and soft inside with cream and jam and a selection of cakes and a teapot which was refilled, we were more than satisfied. When the receptionist realised it was my husband's birthday they iced Happy Birthday on a plate with chocolates, a lovely unexpected gesture. The hotel itself oozed ambience and with pleasant staff perfect.
