This Holiday Inn has the smallest Executive rooms we have ever seen - and the bathroom was also poky. Many of the rooms are up stairs, and there is no lift. The "restaurant" is an enlarged bar area with plastic tables and tasteless fittings. The menu is accessed via a QR code, and is in tiny print on an IPhone - some menu items take three screens to describe - and ordering is online. Quality dining it is not.

At present - and until July - there are works on the main road outside, and it is a detour of OVER THREE MILES to get to the hotel from outside the entrance; but they didn't bother telling us this in the "welcome email" which we received the day before we arrived. As far as we could tell, the road works also mean that there is no bus-stop, should you wish to catch a bus into town.

The spa/pool are excellent, but slots are EXTREMELY few, as they seem to be particularly focussed on social distancing. We suggest you book a few days before you arrive - a nuisance, and inconvenient, but it seems it is necessary here at present.

The redeeming feature is the staff, who are without exception pleasant and helpful, and who go well beyond the call of duty, to make up for the shortcomings of the hotel.

Thank you for your stay and for taking the time to leave us feedback.

While I am glad that the level of service received from the hotel staff met your expectations, I am sorry for any difficulties encountered in the room and with your dining experience. I have alerted the hotel management regarding your comments, and I am positive that the measures that will be taken will make your next visit with us better than the last.

I hope you choose us again!

This hotel is very tired and could really do with a gardener outside and a decorator inside! They seem totally understaffed with the poor person on reception also running to serve in the bar then going to fetch towels for people then serving your food in the restaraunt! The breakfast although tasty is a shambles again no fault of the staff who ran around like mad things trying to serve the buffet and clear tables whilst serving drinks and showing people to tables. The hotel does seem to be making every effort to be covid safe. When we checked out the lovely receptionist apologised for all the problems with breakfast and was clearly used to apologising for it. The staff s friendly attitude and how hard they work just about save this hotel. If it was better looked after it would be a cracking hotel in a convenient location.

ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTED
just checked in for 3 nights for birthday treat for my mum.
Tried to book us all in for a swim in health club, only to be told ONLY 1 space available today .
When I asked about tomorrow's availability, was told 7.30 am is the only one available.
The same time we were going for breakfast, what a JOKE .
WHY are hotel guests only offered what's left from gym membership people???
WHY bother advertising a swimming pool, if it's almost impossible to get in.

Staff offered very little, or NOTHING to assist.
VERT POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE

Not impressed- WON'T BOOK AGAIN

Dear davecT330AU,

Sorry to hear that you were not able to use our swimming pool during your stay. As you can imagine with it being half term we have been inundated this week with families wishing to use the pool.

Hopefully when Covid restrictions are lifted we will be able to allow more people to use the facilities during their stay.

Best Wishes

A great place to stay in these strange times. Hotel and staff wears Covid ready and safe. Staff still greeted everyone with enthusiasm and provided an excellent service. Great to be able to have hot meals provided by the hotel in the safety of your room. Well done, recommend this hotel highly.

there is a large car park and well lit, the check in was easy and my room was clean and tidy.
you do need to have a smart phone with a QR scanner as in the bar and restaurant, it is the only way to order food and drinks.

the hotel staff were very friendly and made us feel safe with the CV-19 plans for us.

the prices are what to expect in a hotel and the food was good and excellant potion size.

there was a large selection at breakfast for you to choose from

would stay again

Room tip: you need a QR scanner App on your phone, to order food and drinks
