Overnight stay before taking coastal ferry. Good value given high cost of Norway. Suite room was spacious and well presented. Excellent breakfast. Couple of minor issues could have received better response. All central city attractions in easy walking distance. Management helpful re accomodating late check out.

We were perfectly comfortable during our one night stay at this interesting hotel. It has a great location in the Bryggen area, which is the principal tourist attraction in Bergen, being a UNESCO World Heritage site. Notwithstanding the location, our room 203 was quiet and had outside windows. I understand that some rooms overlook the interior narrow “alley”. The bathroom was lovely, with a heated floor, large bathtub, separate shower and large sink, counter and mirror area. The breakfast was good, with a lot of choice. The coffee machine almost defeated me along with a number of the other guests. We needed assistance from a server. Someone should be stationed by the machine throughout breakfast or, better still, they should get a sensible machine. Wifi was not great; indeed we stopped trying to use it when our phones gave us warnings that their security certificate had expired. Even for a unsecured network that shouldn’t happen.

We booked the Hanseatic hotel having looked for options in Bergen and been surprised by the limited options of Scandics, Thons, Radisson etc. It was lovely to stay somewhere with a bit more character at right in the heart of Bryggen. We were upgraded to a deluxe room which was huge and had a beautiful bathroom. The hotel bar and restaurant were opulently decorated and nice places to sit, eat and relax. The breakfast spread had everything you could possibly want. The staff were friendly and helpful.

The only slight drawback was that there is no air conditioning/ room temperature control and the room was very stuffy, however it was a bit too noisy to have the window open all night.

Since we are traveling slightly ahead of the season we are finding many hotels empty and we are enjoying upgrades. Here is no different; our room was large, by far the biggest room on the trip, and well-appointed. The bathroom had a massive two person soaking tub as well as a separate shower. Good bath products, a kettle, espresso pod machine, and a mini fridge. King bed, very unusual. The decor was dark walls, velvet curtains, heavy wood doors, opulent but perhaps a little worn. We arrived by car at 4:45 on a Wednesday to a bustling city full of activity, but by the time we parked our car, checked into our room and headed out (5:15), it was a ghost town! Apparently as soon as the cruise ships and tour busses are gone, there is nothing left to offer? The wharf vendors all zipped up their tents, and shops were closed. The restaurant in town I wanted to eat was fully booked for dinner, so make reservations! Our hotel bar was closed that day. The hotel restaurant was empty; only one other group was dining. We ordered overpriced fish & chips and a caesar salad. Nothing fancy, on par with any other generic pub. Breakfast was totally fine. Overall I wasn't a fan of Bergen; it reminded me of Fisherman's Wharf in San Francisco...phoney & touristy.

Room Tip: 4th floor near the back was dark and quiet.

The hotel is nicely located in center Bergen with gew steps from Fløybanen, fishmarked and Bryggen.
The room I had (334) had bathtub but the room was very worn. There are no aircondition and therefor very warm. Internett/Wifi in the hotell has limitations and score 0 points from me. (Had to use cellphone to watch online streaming)
Breakfast was nice but avarage.
It has charm but I don’t think it’s good value for the money they charge. If you get discount it’s another matter.
