Based on this location alone it’s worth a stay. Step out your door and your across the street from the fish market, two blocks below the gondolas for Mt. Froyen, and a block down the street from Bryggen.
The hotel itself is part of the building that is the UNESCO heritage site. Very authentic and you get a feel of the way buildings looked in the past as the hotel is wooden and outdoors and has a whole charm.
The breakfast was delicious. Lots of options. I was partial to the giant croissants but they had meats cheeses and bread. Bacon, eggs, sausage, cereal, and salmon. Not to mention the high class Nespresso machine for lattes, cappuccinos, and coffee.
They were super helpful at the front desk as we decided to stay in Bergen and extra day last minute. They accommodated without any trouble and just let us rebook at our price for the previous night and stay in the same room.
I should mention, we got a great deal! We only paid $99/night. There may be similar priced hotels (not quite with the same history and charm) in the area on a usual night.
Others mentioned the loudness, we had an interior room, not right over the street and didn’t notice noise at all.More
