The check-in and key exchange process was lacking. First off, there are 2 buildings labeled address number 19 on the street, a block apart from each other that made finding the place a little confusing. Only upon receiving the envelope with key and photos and detailed instructions with photos does it eventually become clear where and how to get in and where the apartment actually is. It is actually in a great location central to everything you want to see and do in Oslo. Don't let the tattoo parlor next door or strip club next to that keep you from choosing this place. Actually picking up the key however was a problem. Instructions eventually are emailed notifying renters to pick up the keys at the 7/ Eleven convenience store at the corner of the block. It's easy to find. It's the one with the hookers standing around out in front. Problem is, when the clerk at the 7 /Eleven is asked for the keys, he can't find them and doesn't know any more about it. When we tried to phone the number given in the email to try to find out what the problem is, there is no answer. Eventually after about an hour without any success, the 7 / Eleven clerk finds the misplaced envelope with the keys, detailed instructions, and a different phone number to call for help.
So we get in, and all is fine with the apartment. Good security, clean, with all amenities as described. Nice bathroom, plenty of hot water, comfortable beds, etc., no problems at all. I would recommend the place, stay there again, etc. as it was a good value overall. And don't concern yourself about the local ambience. That's just Oslo. Just remember, all great locations come with a little noise, so if you're a light sleeper bring some ear plugs.
