Though hotel is in an old building, the rooms are comfortable. The bathroom with shower cubicle is ok.The hotel is located within 5-6 mins walk from both Hbf and Kepler plaz metro stations.Bus stop is just in front. The location Columbus Square is a very busy shopping area, safe and has plenty of dining options. The staff response is excellent.

Room Tip: No lift there 1st floor preferable

The toilet seat is old style: your craps go first in the porcelain, and just after you pull the valve the water makes the outgoing job (imagine the smell after you make number 2). My room smelled cigarette and the floor was dirty. Nice bed, clean sheets, old towels (but clean). Old furniture and tv in the room with cable. Hot shower and clean shower box. 2 blocks away from the main bus and train station (really well connected, kind of 8 blocks till the old town, really friendly staff, nice lobby with drinking machine (in case u forget to bring water), wifi is not that good in the room (but for free), no elevator. Maybe I would come back. In the back street there is a large number of stores and small restaurants (cheap ones) so as a cool bar in the opposite corner if you wanna drink a beer in a decent place.

Before I start please disregard the review before mine that makes reference to "Noisy Arabs", a term in itself that makes no sense given the reviewer is attempting to make reference too the refugee crisis. There is clearly a discriminatory vibe here which I don't like, and If you read my previous reviews you will see I do not tend to rant like this but its a point that I needed to make. However onto the hotel. Kolbeck is a fantastic base for a stay in Vienna if your budget doesn't stretch too staying in the central area. Despite not been in the center the hotel is a less than 5 minute walk to both Westbahnhof (the main train station) and Keplerplatz which is the closest Underground stop. From the back entrance of the hotel you turn Right to reach the underground and left for the main station. For getting to the center the underground is the best way, only a few stops to Stephansplatz and you are at the famous cathedral. You can either walk from here too the main central square or swap tube lines and go via the underground. Volkstheater is a stop that I used to be in the center, there are probably more however. As for the hotel itself you really couldn't ask for more as far as a 2 star establishment goes. Clean room good sized room and bathroom, quiet and comfortable. Finally I must make mention of how helpful the man at reception was, on arrival he gave us a map of Vienna and pointed out many main spots to visit whilst also giving all the train information I mentioned above. The building itself is also very old and full of character.

Located just outside the centre of Vienna in Favouriten, this hotel is located just off a pretty pedestrianised shopping street. Excellent connections with the Keplerplatz U-Bahn stop 5 minutes walk away and several tram routes along the main road, meaning you can benefit from a much cheaper hotel whilst still being close to the centre of Vienna (especially when you consider the U-bahn is 24 hours on Friday and Saturday nights). We were staying in the second building of the hotel which has no lift so if you have heavy luggage this could be an issue but was not a problem for us. Hotel held our luggage on our final day allowing us to make the most of our stay. Would recommend.

Room Tip: No lift in the second, further part of the hotel
