Visited this place where we're at the wedding. Service was outstanding. Dishes were very tasting. Place is interesting as from balcony you can see 3 countries.
From my point of view - place which should be visited when in Bregenz.

This restaurant is highly overpriced for the small choice of average dishes. The view over the lake of constance is nice though.

It helps to have GPS guidance to find this Burg, which sits high above Bregenz and Lake Konstanz. A long winding road leads to a parking lot nestled in the woods behind the castle, and it is necessary to walk the last 100 meters or so on a cobbled
road. People do try to drive up that approach, but then find nowhere to park, and barely enough space to turn around. Because of the cobbles, and the dim lighting along the pathway, one's choice of footwear should be driven by practicality and safety rather than fashion. There are terraced areas near the entrance where customers can admire the views of the lake, the city of Bregenz, and a number of Alps, if they are not fortunate enough to have a table on the dining terrace. The food is not particularly ambitious, but is nicely cooked, and service is precise and timely. During the Festspiele, the Burgrestaurant Gebhardsburg serves a five course dinner commemorating the current opera (in our case, Puccini's Turandot), and this included very palatable courses of caprese-style pannacotta with tomato, mushroom soup, fish from the lake, a beef and veal combo, and dessert, with a decent flight of mainly Austrian wines. There were at least two wedding parties going on, but diners on the terrace were not ignored in the least while watching the sunset over the lake. It would be wise to manage the intake of wine before attempting the after-dinner descent from the mountain - the road is quite steep in places, and is not particularly wide.

There's many things to recommend Burgrestaurant Gebhardsberg, among them the views of Bregenz from the dining terrace, the helpful staff and the historical setting of the restaurant in a former stronghold. Sadly the food isn't one of the reasons to come to this restaurant. Though ti does seem to be popular with bridal parties, there were two on the premises while we were having dinner on the terrace.
My companion and I both had the special 'Turandot' menu, after all that's why we were in Breganz so we thought we'd enjoy the special menu the hotel composed for the occasion. The theme started with a trio of items: a panna cotta of cheese, thin slices of tomato and pesto sauce in the colors of the Italian flag but after this it sadly ran out of theme and flavor as course after course the menu reverted to local favorites.
The companion had the accompanying wine flight which consisted, except for a single Spanish wine, of wines from the local Austrian and German vicinity. The wines did go perfectly with the food once all the faux Italian elements dissipated after the first course. By the last, which was an icy passion fruit sorbet on top of fresh berries, there wasn't a hint of Puccini or Turandot to be tasted anywhere.
Kudos to the management though for having enough staff on hand to deal with two wedding parties as well as the individual guests dining on the terrace. Other establishments might have and in my experience have tried to use the staff to service all three events leaving everyone unhappy.
Also, this is not a place to take your wheel chair bound Gran. It's a former castle and hence very hard to get in to with several flights of steps. The car park in on a lower level, is unpaved but lit after dark. There's a rather steep walk up a hundred foot length of cobbled path. Ladies, your heels will suffer if you choose to wear them if you visit.
Can't argue with the views over the town and the lake which are especially beautiful as the sun sets. Unfortunately the views are superior to the food.

If you don't eat here, at least go for the spectacular views. It's not everyday that you get to overlook 4 countries and a beautiful lake! Food was most excellent. Went with a local so we tried some items that we most likely would not have ordered on our own. Start your meal with with Zider. It's an herbal delight! The Gebhardsberg pot is one of the most traditional meals. Or try the mass spaetzel made with cheese from the region. The sorbet after the meal is not to be missed. Wonderful!!!
