The Altstadt is a mix of alcoves, cobbled pedestrianised paths and open squares. At the edge of the old town there are hotels and other buildings against the backdrop of a rockface which makes for stunning photographs.

What a wonderful experience to be taken back in time with a visit to Salzburg Altstadt. It is filled with history from different era's. There is so much to take in and experience.
From the Mirabelle gardens to the stories of the old Monks. The churches and beautiful grave yard! Take a romantic walk along the river and go up with the lift to experience the ultimate view of this city.
Then treat yourself to a wonderful bite of sweetness at the Sacher hotel! Eat a Sacher-Torte after strolling back over the bridge.
An afternoon well-spent!

Salzburg has a lot of romantic views from the altstadt which lays on top of a hill. You get there by taking a small hill train. Worth the trip!

The old town in all his glory, baroque buildings, beautiful churches, small and cozy alleys ... is a great place to walk around and enjoy history. If you tired from stroling around there are lots of cafes were you can have some coffee or tea with delicious apfelstrudel.

The old town is a great place to eat, shop or just walk about and soak up history. If you prefer to ride there are both horse arrives and bike that carry you. The city has both charm and a vibe so it appeals to all inclinations.
