Hotel Wolf-Dietrich

We spent three nights at the Wolf Dietrich as part of our family vacation to Germany and Austria. We stayed in one of the family rooms in the annex building just across the street. Our room was very clean, with 2 full bathrooms, 2 televisions, and 2 beds (one was a pullout couch bed though was very comfy for a pullout). There were 2 adults and one teen in our family. Though the outside of the building was covered with staging for work they were doing, we did not see any workers while we where there (Saturday thru Tuesday). The front desk, particularly Jorg, was extremely helpful. He booked all our tours for us. Additionally he gave us a great recommendation for dinner (Zwettlers in Old Town) where we had one of the best meals of our week in Austria and Germany. He also helped us with train schedules. The hotel pool and spa area was a great place for us to relax after being out touring and wandering around Salzburg all day. The afternoon tea and cake was a big hit with our teen. The buffet breakfast was excellent! We would absolutely recommend staying at the Wolf-Dietrich. The location is great. We walked everyplace we needed to go. Old Town is just a short walk across the river.

My wife and me went to celebrate our 10th anniverssary and we really loved the hotel especially their cozy spa (don't miss it , it's totally free) also we were very happy with their suite (it's really romantic)
The restaurant is very basic but the brrakfast is very rich:)

Although I'm sure the hotel will be beautiful once they finished the work, the building across the road is currently a building site and certainly not fit for letting rooms for nearly £90.00 The room itself was nice and of a very good standard, however, the building currently has scaffolding all the way around it and at 9 am the workmen start their job. The disturbance is a real nuissance as the workmen walk on the scaffolding right outside your window and in my case worked on the other side of the wall. Good job I shut the blinds! Drilling, hammering and plastering noises from early morning are not what I expected after the many good reviews.

On a more positive note, the hotel had a DVD selection which you could rent FOC and the breakfast was good and available fairly late too. I might recommend the hotel if it was not for the fact that they should never have rented out the exact room on which the workmen are working. I'm glad I only stayed one night!

If they can accommodate you in their main building, it shouldn't be a problem as my review only concerns the building across the road. However, as I didn't stay in the main building, thusI cannot give you any more feedback.

Room Tip: Ensure that you stipulate to stay in their main building (ie, the building where the reception is)

The family rooms are great--huge, with play area, etc. Couldn't find a better hotel for traveling with kids. Also, great location...right in the middle of the "old" part of Salzburg where you can walk to everything. We were very happy with this choice. The staff was also remarkably helpful.

We loved our time at this hotel. The service was remarkable, and the breakfast buffet was scrumptious! The hotel is centrally located near Old Town, and is surrounded by some very nice shops. We got the true experience of the Alps.

Room Tip: Corner rooms are quieter and sunnier.
