The apartment is beautifully furnished, with loving attention to the details. It is very clean, and instantly feels very homely. It is also within walking distance to the main center of Graz, and the apartment's location makes exploring Graz a breeze. I would definitely recommend this apartment and had an absolutely incredible stay.

We come from Italy and regularly visit Graz, mainly for business. We tried several places but never really felt home until we found the Alstadthaus. All apartments are beautifully furnished with delicious details. Each apartment is different with a particular story to tell about the people who lived there in the old times. The apartments are clean and tidy, and some of them even have a small balcony where you can enjoy a lovely cup of tea and rest in a relaxed atmosphere. The bathrooms are modern with huge and comfortable showers and the kitchens are well-equipped and hi-tech (maybe the only remark is the missing microwave). The Altstadthaus is situated in peaceful part of the city, near the park and the river and close to the center (15 minutes by foot) and the supermarket (5 minutes). The Landlady is very kind and keen in keeping everything properly working and always willing to help. We strongly recommend Altstadthaus both for holiday and for business.

We had a lovely stay at Altstadthaus. We stayed in Margarethe and the attention to detail in the design and set up of the apartment was exceptional. It is the most beautiful holiday apartment we have ever stayed in. It's not only gorgeous, it's also well-appointed and practical with a very large shower, well equipped kitchen including dishwasher and comfortable bed. Bettina and Veronika were both friendly, helpful and flexible.

There was no issue with the on-street parking and it was an easy walk to the city centre. We stayed here for the Formula 1 and caught the train to Spielberg. Given it was so early, we chose to drive and parked in a secure car park a couple of minutes from the train station.

As a family of 4 we stayed for a week in "Mitzi und Paula", one of the 5 individual apartments in the Altstadthaus. Each room is designed with lovely details around the live stories of the 2 post office clerks Mitzi and Paula. Our children loved to find clues like stamps, old postcards and poems.
The bedroom has a large double bed, large drawer and huge flat screen TV. From the window you can see the tree covered hills around Graz. In the kitchen is a sofa, that can be transformed into another double bed, a beautiful old tiled stove, several tables and even a balcony. The fully equiped kitchen (incl. dishwasher!) had a view into the green garden with old trees. The large bathroom is amazing, especially when staying with children: large walk-in shower and a bath tup. Towels, linen, tea, coffee and spices are all provided.
Within a 10 min walk (near the church) is a bakery with fresh bred, buns and cakes, a shopping mall and best of all: the large Augarten park with a huge playground, public open air pool and the children's museum. To get to the city center, one can take the bus (4 stops to Jakominiplatz) or walk 20 min along the lush, tree lined sidewalk next to the Mur river.
Bonus: the bookshelves are filled with novels, detective stories and children's books (both German and English), that are not only for decoration: everyone seems to be welcome to use this library.
We've never stayed in a such a spacious, poetic place on our holidays before. All in all we had a wonderful time and would love to return!

My family (2 adults, two younger children) needed an apartment for a month in Graz. We had lived in Graz the prior year and through some contacts, found out about Altstadthaus Cityappartements. All in all, it worked really well for us. The building is near the city center, accessible through a walk or a few bus-stops ride on the efficient Graz transportation system. It happens to be very close to a very large park (Augarten) that has one of the larger city pools, which came in handy, especially during the week of 90+ temps all week. The neighborhood isn't great between the building and Augarten, but there was never any question about safety (Graz is VERY safe). And the Billa (grocery store nearby) is very handy and it's just a bit further to CityPark (a mall that includes a very large Spar grocery store). So, location very good. The apartment itself is very cute. The family that owns the building is in the process of renovating the apartments and whoever is decorating the room has a nice eye. Our apartment (Mitzi and Paula) had a large bedroom (for the parents) and a fold-out futon couch that the kids slept on at night. The kitchen was fully equipped. This place would be ideal for a short visit and we made it work for a long visit. The long visit was a bit of a challenge because there's very little storage for your food and so we bought some crates for various staples. Also, during our stay, they installed a washer, which made life much easier, although the laundrymat isn't more than 5 blocks away. We are likely to return next summer and we believe this will be our base again.
