“Pasta with just sauce!”

My friends and I visited Monte Carlo for the day and finally found a nice little cafe that sells reasonably priced food in the expensive city at 4pm. The cafe is lovely, situated just a street behind the famous casino.

The lady that served us was lovely and took our orders - each one of us ordered a pasta each (there were just penne/ravioli with pesto/tomato/cream). But when our food arrived, we were in shock! It was just a mere handful of pasta with sauce, and nothing else. No vegetables, no meat, no cheese, just pasta. We didn't want to be rude because to be fair we didn't ask what was in the pasta, but that was it for our very late lunch, €13 for a pasta portion equivalent to a kids meal! What a rip off!

The concept of this place is a fashion-cafe where you can eat and shop at the same time. I went with some girlfriends for a quick lunch - the cafe is tiny which isn't a real problem however, we sat upstairs and could tell that things badly needed to be stored away. The table next to ours was stacked high with loaves of sandwich breads...although I don't expect them to make their own bread it was something else altogether seeing bread supplies stocked right next to you.

Foodwise just basic instant café food - sandwiches, pasta etc...nothing special really. Probably good to grab a quick bite if you're not too picky or a morning coffee.
