Stayed 13th to 27th September as a couple seeking a hassle free fortnight of chilling and sunshine. A little dated regarding the décor in the apartments especially in the kitchen area. Air con noisy but necessary as it hot. View over tennis courts and sea view just about from the balcony. As others have mentioned there are some who don't leave the poolside bar all day, but each to their own we liked to be busier rather than sat be the pool all day. Well sited at the top end of the Valley of the Kings road. Plenty of restaurants within walking distance we found the supermarket at the mall just as cheap as the Aldi further up Valley of the Kings Road for your bits and pieces. Rooms cleaned daily apart from Wednesday and Sunday, staff mostly cheerful. Would probably stay here again if I visited Paphos due mainly to it's location.
My Twin sister and I arrived on the 7th October for a 14 day stay, It just felt like home to us both as we have returned for the 4th time. It was lovely to see Nicos and Ted again, Yet again the complex and apartments were immaculate, the gardens were well kept. The pool area was washed and cleaned daily and nothing was too much trouble for the lovely staff in the cafe bar.We cannot fault this place in anyway whatsoever. The Kefalonitas was busier than usual this time of year and there were more children too, but it was lovely to see them enjoying themselves , the weather was amazing too.! Well Nicos we just need to let you know we have booked again for October 8th 2018, so be ready for us again !!!!! much love to you and your family and all the best for christmas and 2018. The usual room please would be nice !!lol xxx
October half term...
Hotel in a good location and no doubt gets busy during the Summer months. Just a bit too 'dead' during our weeks stay with no more than a handful of people around the pool .
We prefer the beach anyway so spent our days either at the harbour Coral Bay Beach or the beach at the Lighthouse.
Read so many wonderful reviews about Kefalonitis so a huge dissapointment when none of them delivered!!
Found the staff very unfriendly and the night porter when asking for our key after a night out kept us waiting until he'd finished what he was watching on the t.v.
We had phonecalls from reception during the night
Complained to the night porter only to be told (with a shrug!!!) there was a problem.. and how do we think he feels about it!!
Cleanliness of the rooms well sorry people must have had too much sun when giving outstanding reviews! The place needs a good scrub
Paphos is lovely but will not return.
We have stayed here 4 or 5 times now with the next visit already booked up. Situated just off the tomb of the kings road we think it is in the ideal place to access everything Paphos and beyond has to offer. There are many good restaurants within a few minutes walk with almost every taste catered for. The complex itself is in traditional Greek white and blue and has ample car parking space should you choose to hire a car. Reception is bright spacious and airy where in the daytime you will most likely meet the manager Nicos who will ensure you get shown your room and that you are happy. He also has a great sense of humour and an uncanny ability to remember everyone’s room number despite there being 110 rooms!
It has a decent sized pool with a section partitioned off for toddlers and the area surrounding is all paved and has many sun loungers. The bar area serves drinks and has a good snack menu as well as a breakfast menu. The rooms are exactly as you see in pictures on the travel sites and we always have a one bedroom apartment which is more than generous size wise. All recently tiled and decorated it has basic but good quality furniture. The kitchen has a fridge, small cooker, toaster and microwave and has all the dishes and cutlery you would need even a pair of scissors in the drawer. The shower is very good and there is alway plenty of lovely hot water.
One of the plus points here is that air conditioning is included so when it gets hot and it will, the air conditioning is a blessing. Every apartment has a safe that easily fits in the normal sized iPads and there is a small charge for this. The maids are in 5 days a week bringing fresh towels and bedding etc and keeping the place nice and clean.
The best thing about kefalonitis apartments is by miles the staff there, they all work extremely hard to make sure everyone is happy and well looked after and I do mean all staff from the boss down. Always happy to chat offer advice on things to do etc.
If you want good clean self catering accommodation in Paphos then the 3 star kefalonitis apartments is a great place to stay, we love it there and go back time and time again for our annual holiday.
We stayed for 3 weeks in October 2017. Sunset was 6pm until the clocks went back, and so for the last week sunset was 5pm (of course).
The weather was wonderful and warm in the first 2 weeks achieving 29 degrees some days. In the third week it was warm but sometimes wet. When it rained it rained hard.
The costs overall were equivalent to northern UK, though alcohol was cheaper. We didn't buy cigarettes/cigars.
The staff were very friendly especially as we got used to each other. As far as they are able, the staff were also very helpful.
The site is central just off the main bus route (Bus number 615) to Coral Bay, the only sandy beach we found. (2 Euros 50 each, for a lounger and a parasol). Go across the road to get to Paphos.
The amenities in Kefalonitis Apartments were quite dated e.g. the poolside loungers and the crazy paving. The reception area was quite nice.
The Kefalonitis restaurant (café)
We didn't drink in here. The café only serves snacks but this is not a problem as there are many restaurants in the area
There were to main breakfasts Full English and Continental. Porridge was not available but you can get some cereals. If you have ordered your breakfast with your room, the system is quite rigid so that if you ask for, for example, tea and Juice you have to pay extra for one of them. Our breakfasts became quite boring in the end.
Tip:Consider not booking a breakfast with your holiday as there are many places in the local facility which could provide one for around 5 euros. However if you want an early breakfast for example up to 9am you best stay at the Kefalonitis restaurant. Sometimes when going on a trip we had breakfast there at 715am.
The Pool is clean and inviting though the crazy paving is a little dated.
Don't forget your beach towels as they are not provided.
The safe was 10 Euro/week with a 10 Euro deposit.
Originally we were put in a room at the back of the complex on the ground floor. The room had poor views and was close to the road which made my wife feel unsafe. With the help of the Thomas Cook Rep we were moved and at the end of the week were given a pool view room which was much better for us. There are no lifts to the first and second floors, but we did not mind this. Our Rep Stephanie was very efficient and managed our complaint swiftly and efficiently. When things are wrong it is always helpful for the problem to be managed like this.
The apartment had basic equipment only and though spacious was somewhat lacking in kitchen worktop space and wardrobe space. The beds were comfortable but the put- up beds were uncomfortable to sit on.There is air conditioning. The television has only 2 channels in English: BBC news and one other that seems to put on English films at night but otherwise is in Greek.
There is a small laundry where you can wash and dry clothes. No washing powder or conditioner is available on site
There are several convenience stores (Kiosks) in the area and a Lidl a short bus ride to the north. There are other supermarkets in Paphos harbour and the old town. We used google maps to help us when walking.
Every 15 minutes to Coral harbour /Paphos harbour but much longer in other areas. Costs 1.5 Euros per trip. You can get a daily ticket for 5 Euros (on the bus) and a weekly ticket (at the station) for 20 Euros There are Intercity busses but no trains.
There are many restaurants close by which vary in price. We had some good times in Tramps and Fat Mamas. Watch to see how close the tables are in some of the restaurants as when the restaurant is full, there may be no conversation privacy. You should be able to get a meal (main and a drink for two) for 25-35 euros.
We went to Famagusta. Watch out if the courier asks for money on the bus. You get no receipt/ticket and we went to the archaeological site, no ticket was required. Our courier took 6 euros off many of us. I spoke to the local travel company, who asked me to write a letter which I did and I'm waiting... still waiting, for a reply email.
We also took a Thomas Cook trip around the island which was all day, very long, starting early morning and returning around 6pm. The trip was enjoyable and very informative. The guide never stopped talking!
There is no secure place to put your luggage after checkout time (12 midday). We paid 30 Euros to keep the room until 4pm and we could have paid 40 Euros to keep the room until 6pm. The return transfer bus was on time and our flight home was good. We wouldn't buy the inflight meal again.
Would we go again?
Probably not to Kefalonitis apartments. We think we would prefer a hotel next time and some of the prices were not that different. We would go back to Paphos? we found it safe, welcoming and interesting with some good views and lovely harbour cafes.
