Just got back from 2 fabulous weeks at the King Jason, and want to add our compliments to Andreas and his staff - in particular the attention and friendliness offered by Maria on reception - she knows what you want before you do, from ringing the rental car agency and having the car delivered on our first hot morning, to providing free maps and directions to local sites, and making sure of our comfort on the last long day - despite late checkout being unavailable she offered lockers, towels and showers to us and safe storage for our cases. Little touches like fresh pool towels every day, and cupboards full of paperbacks to swap, along with attractive and comfortable reception areas with beautiful decor and lighting especially the candles at night, create a cosy and intimate atmosphere.
We had a studio room (26) which was as requested upper floor and pool view, with a great balcony where we enjoyed breakfast in the sun, and late afternoon shade after days out. The room was large, with plenty of storage space and kitchen equipment including a good size fridge. The air con unit was noisy but effective, and essential during the night, and did not interfere with sleep. As there were no mosquitoes in evidence it was also nice to open the patio door come daybreak.
We tended to go out in the car most days, ending up at the pool mid-afternoon and never had a problem finding loungers. There was plenty of shade from umbrellas and trees when we'd had enough rays, and the pool was large enough to swim properly. The upper decking with double bed sized loungers and cabana-style benches made a nice change too.
We ate lunch in the hotel restaurant many times, and found the quality and variety of food on offer most impressive. We also had an evening meal in the hotel - buffet style hot and cold dishes, something for everyone and enough for anyone, and again top quality for every course.
We attended the wine-tasting on Friday night - Andreas is well-informed and very generous with his offerings of local wines accompanied by nibbles, and a full glass of your fancy to take into dinner with you.
The walk to the harbour area took us no more than 15-20 minutes and we had some fabulous fresh fish and steak meals at Theo's, and a superb Chinese meal at Chloe's (can't miss it, look for the bright pink lit trees!)
As football fans we found Alexander's Bar most hospitable for late night matches from home, and the channels on offer on the TV in our room great for keeping up with news and more - BBC1,2, ITV, 5 and Sky Sports 1 all available.
To sum up, this was easily the best package holiday we have ever had - a perfect combination of unstinting hot weather, good food, wine and company, and the phenomenal service from Andreas and his team at this jewel of a hotel means that we are looking to return to Paphos. No wonder King Jason attracts so many repeat visitors. Thank you and hope to see you again next year
Carole and Pete.
