Review of LVB Restaurant - CLOSED

LVB Restaurant
Price range: US$52 - US$63
Description: There are three set menus to choose from, and they change on a weekly basis. The cuisine presents elements of novelty while still maintaining a familiar Mediterranean feel. There’s the “Chef’s recommended 7-course menu”, the “5-course menu”, and the “Vegetarian menu”. Each item on the menu is described briefly, but you’ll need to wait for the dishes themselves to uncover each of their nuances. It’s like knowing the general plot points of an operetta, but being surprised by the unique characteristics of each cast member’s performance. Moreover, each menu features a variety of very different dishes, which makes for an entertaining and diverse culinary trip . Textures range from creamy to firm, and rough to smooth, while different tastes play together in a cleverly orchestrated balance. All is assembled as a delightful work of art, with vibrant colours framed by large white plates for maximum visual appeal. The portions are petite, but as the meal progresses and reaches its conclusion

Based on the reviews on TripAdvisor we though it best to leave this restaurant for a special occasion, in this case Valentines. Two weeks prior I called and reserved a table, whereby I was assured that we would be given a good table and that a normal menu would be served.

The day prior to our reservation, I tried calling the place only to have the number being diverted to voicemail. The Facebook page has also been brought down, leaving no means on how to contact them. Giving them the benefit of the doubt, especially since technical glitches are not unheard of, we went on the day only to find the place closed, without even bothering to call us up to inform us that after all the place would not be open. Ridiculous customer care and management to say the least, with no value or importance given to us.

We loved our dining experience at LVB. The food is exquisite. The presentation is beautiful. The service and wine selection is great. The atmosphere is romantic. Perfect for a special occasion or just a cullinary treat to yourself. Plan to be there for a couple of hours or more for the courses to keep coming. Each one is artistically presented to take you on a foodie heaven journey. Top!

Whilst there are many upmarket and fine dining venues around Malta, I have yet to find a place that offers the concept LVB does and executes it so effectively - a personalised culinary journey offering an amazing combination of flavours and textures.

The degustation menus sampled during our visit had a seasonal festive tinge and were original and intriguing. Priced at €55pp, they are absolute value considering the price one typically pays all over Europe for similar concepts and quality.

Service was also remarkable, polite and pleasant - albeit maybe a bit slow at times when the restaurant was full. The restaurant is a bit small and ambience might not be its best but the food definitely pays off.

Looking forward to revisit next year and to sample different seasonal creations. Keep up the good work LVB team!

It was beyond our expectations. The whole experience was amazing.
Great, friendly and professional staff.
Nice cocktails and good wine list.
Tasty food , we had the festive set menus both of them were lovely. Especially the lamb and the mint chocolate courses.
They even offered us a complimentary dessert wine.
We expected the bill to be around 300€ and it was worth it imagine our surprise when it was only 150€ and one of our cocktails for free.
Totally worth a visit and a second one for sure.

I have been wanting to visit this Restaurant for ages and yesterday was finally the day!
Entering the restaurant we were greeted and sat down by professional staff. From then onward everything that happened was done with so much thought and care that I was amazed with something as easy as the bread. We all went for a 7 course menu which I would highly recommend because the price is more then worth the whole experience.
All courses were literally looking like pieces of art and they all tasted like things I've never tried before, blowing me away with the perfect texture/flavor and proportions.
It's clear to see that they've put a lot of effort in offering the whole package.
They even made a birthday card for my friend signed by the whole staff!
I don't write a lot of reviews but after the first 10 min in this place I knew I wanted to share this with others.
Well done to the chef and the rest of the staff for an unforgettable experience!
Only thing I would advice then is to set the toilet light sensor timer a bit longer ;)
10/10
