Maple Farm Bed and Breakfast Malta
Ranked #1 of 3 Rabat B&B and Inns

Reviewed 18 October 2016

Maple Farm is set among farm land - but is not a farm!! About 20mins from the airport just outside Rabat and Mdina. It is a well presented, single storey, 6 bedroomed property, each room with en suite shower room. The rooms are all new, oak furniture with writing table and coffee/tea making facilities. The breakfast/sitting room is equally well equipped. Breakfast is en buffet with selection of fruit juices, cereals, fresh fruit, meats, cheeses and breads and spreads. Boiled eggs, soft or hard, are offered. Coffee and tea is available. Outside is a lovely pool and sitting area around with gazebo - swimming towels are ready at the asking. The property is very secure with electronic gates. The owners, Charles and Anna, leave nothing to chance and are very attentive to every need. Charles will offer an afternoon (4pm to 7pm) tour of the area, including his vineyard and olive grove - great to be drinking his wine as it grows dark! The cultural city of Mdina ( the Silent City) is only a few minutes drive away, as is Rabat, with their many restaurant choices. A car is an essential "have" together with a satnav, since the roads are poorly signposted often. However, there is a good and cheap bus service run by Malta Transport, which runs rather like a spider's web from and into Valletta, and the bus stops are not far from Maple farm. Mdina and Valletta are not to be missed experiences. Sandy beaches are to be found at Golden Bay (NE of the island) and Mellieha on its East coast. There is a car/passenger ferry from the very North across to Gozo, which is another not to be missed day trip - free to Gozo but pay to come back: €29.50 for car and driver and 3 passengers. We love Malta and have visited almost every year for the last 15 years but usually stay at a different place each time. Maple Farm would be an excellent choice for its welcome, peace and its comfort.

Room Tip: Room 6 has a very large double bed (6' or 2 x 3')

We stayed for nine nights, and can endorse all previous reviews about the delicious breakfasts, comfortable rooms (very good showers), and lovely pool. Anna and Charles are generous, kind and knowledgeable hosts, and were particularly helpful in retrieving our lost luggage. They arranged car hire for us locally, and gave invaluable advice about routes, destinations and parking.

I can't express how lovely the owners, Charles and Anna, are. They will go out of their way to accommodate you. This place was recommended to me by a colleague and its in a great location to do lots of exploring of the south and west coast of Malta. The room is small but comfortable, breakfast is fab and the grounds are great - it was a pity it rained as we couldn't use the pool. Book well ahead to not be disappointed.

We stayed with Charles and Anna for 3 days, and had a great time. A good base for exploring Rabat and Mdina, with a short walk into town. A nice pool, and a hearty breakfast. Also a good place to take walks to the coast, and along Dingli cliffs.

My husband and I stayed at Maple Farm B&B for 5 nights during September, Charles and Anna were very welcoming and go above and beyond for their guests. Our room was very clean and had everything we needed, the grounds of the B&B are very well kept.
We arranged airport transfers through Charles (extra cost) which made our arrival and departure stress free.
Charles and Anna have a great wealth of knowledge about Malta, and are able to offer advice and tips, on where to visit, when and where to eat. Charles even managed to make us reservations at local restaurants.
The only slight downside was being woken by the local cockerels on a neighbouring farm, but I actually grew to like this.
Overall a fabulous stay, with lovely owners, and a delicious breakfast included (I loved the fresh Maltese bread).
