The experience was good and I have only a couple of minor complaints. The only issue for me having been there before, is that I always get lost going from reception to the back carpark. Please put in an internal road to get around this problem. The staff were very obliging and the general atmosphere was very relaxed. Due to the Perth weather ( hot and humid ) the air conditioner was a must, but a little noisy. Had an evening meal and full breakfast at the restaurant which was of a high standard. Love the room design being able to go outside and sit in the open air.

We found the receptionist to be efficient but were rather dismayed to be given a choice of dragging our bags through pathways etc to our room or to be able to have our car nearby we could drive to a carpark near our room, given a map and it was at least 5 km, but were confused which block of rooms was ours. Our block was a strange looking dark wooden one more suited to a snow resort. Couldn't see any lift anywhere at all so had to haul our large suitcase up the steps to 2nd floor. Room was a basic room, bed very comfortable, only a view of a carpark. We had a really wonderful breakfast the head person greeted us very warmly and made sure a number of times everything was ok for us.
It was rather busy as still school holidays, quite a big property, and of course ideal for golfers, which we aren't. As it was 42 degrees, too hot to walk or sightsee.
If taking a cheaper option ask which block of rooms you will be in.

Stayed at the Vines for a few days, from Monday and right through to Australia Day and the experience was less then impressive. We booked two resort rooms as we had another couple with us so this was more of a get-together week where the guys could play golf and the ladies (me and another girlfriend) could relax by the pool.

We received our room number and headed towards our resort rooms, all within the main resort building, we walk pass the cafe, pass the conference rooms, pass the restaurant area, pass the lounge area, then outside and continue walking onto a bridge and hey presto we arrived at our rooms. (lol quite a long, long walk).

The room were fairly large overlooking the golf course and with a lovely sitting area on the balcony but due to the hot weather, from 38 to 42 we did not use the area until the resort had a black-out on Australia Day (not impressed, for 3 hours we were without power, not the resort's fault but for a 5 star venue, they did not back up portable fans but only torches !!!!, thank goodness we had rain, thunder and wind during the blackout otherwise guests would have past out in their rooms).

Even though the rooms were dated, it was adequate and suited our purpose. Absolutely loved the decking area on the baloney and would be superb if the weather outside was nicer.

Now to the not so great aspects of staying at The Vines. The staff there, customer service reception, wait staff, room service attendees etc... these workers do not know how to greet customers let alone smile. We saw staff walking pass guests (and not just us) and the staff could not even bring themselves to say "hello" or break a smile. Customer service is about making guests feel like they are valved and wanted at the resort not the opposite. Wait staff struggled to carry two rectangular plates to the table and end up placing the plates on the forks and knifes and we had to lift the plates and adjust it. !!!

The saving grace is definitely the foods the chefs serves up at the Muscat restaurant. The Chinese Pot Belly and the Kangaroo fillets, the Chicken Salad, the fish of the day were amazing and delicious and the grilled prawns and oysters were excellent entrees. The horrible side dishes, salad and chips at $8 each was absolutely crap for a 5 star venue, we left the fries pretty much untouched and the wait staff did not ask us how our meals went.

Overall, we wouldn't stay at The Vines again even at $185 per night. If you never been there and is curious you probably end up making a reservation but whether you enjoy your stay is really up to you. For all four of us, the experience was less then desirable and would not return as resort guests but would definitely visit the Muscat restaurant if we are desperate for a good feed and somehow put up with average customer service for a 5 star resort.

Room Tip: Get a room overlooking the golf course or court yard as the views are great.
