It’s really hard to describe this hotel. The location is slightly out of the city centre - but only about a 15 minute walk. The building is 1960s style and being refurbished, but that doesn’t detract from the quality at all. We stayed in a new room on the third floor and although we didn’t have a very good view, the window looked out onto the building work, there was no disturbance to our stay.
We are in the restaurant on our first evening. It was a buffet style affair but nothing like we’ve had before. There wasn’t very much choice, but all the food was cooked well and it was tasty and filling. Some people were less than impressed and I expect if you are a fussy eater then it might not be for you. The roast lamb was the best lamb I’ve ever eaten - delicious!
Breakfast is in the same restaurant and is a totally different affair entirely. You couldn’t ask for a wider spread of foods. Almost everything was there in abundance. I enjoyed the skyr and cherry sauce.
The shower in the room was awesome, but I wish the towels were a little larger. Fabulous toiletries and replenished daily (so if you’re travelling with only hand luggage don’t worry!)
Plenty of storage in the room, a massive and comfy bed, but had to fight the other half for the covers. A fridge, a Nespresso machine along with a kettle for refreshments, but there weren’t needed as there was free coffee and tea available in the lobby. The lobby is large, and often filled with people off on excursions or waiting for a pick up to the airport, and it’s not always clear where to queue to speak to staff. It also seemed that the staff had to deal with queries about excursions and transport, whereas they should be dealing with hotel based requests.
Staff seemed a little rushed and made mistakes. There was a mistake with our booking, and we were assured it would be sorted out and it wasn’t.
There is a late opening garage nearby if you wanted to stock up on some snacks.

Arrived on a very windy night. Window did not shut properly,so wind howled through gap. Reported it next day. Some attempt made to close window further. Armchairs left in corridor. Possible fire risk.

Room Tip: Higher floors offer a stunning view. North facing especially.

We stayed here for 4 nights in February. The pictures advertised were modern/updated; the rooms were quite the contrast! They were clean and tidy but extremely in need of redecorating (wallpaper peeling off walls). The hotel was currently being renovated but we were never informed; on the 3rd day of our trip we noticed that by the lift there was a sign stating that there were renovations between certain hours. To be honest though, we weren't in the hotel enough to have been affected by the renovations as we were exploring all day and evening - it would have been nice to have been notified though.

Room service was overpriced and bland; I was expecting more considering all of the excellent reviews from the hotels restaurant Grillid!

The staff were lovely and friendly! The lady checking us in was lovely and polite, the gentleman who booked us our flybus was extremely helpful making sure we had plenty of time to spare in the airport; along with another gentleman who checked us out.

The location is brilliant - just far enough out of the city (10 mins walk) also the national museum is literally across the road.

Beds were comfy and breakfast was plentiful and good value with lots of choice. Even catering for lactose free people!

My family and I have stayed in wonderful hotels all over the world, this hotel won’t be added to our top 20. It was clean, the staff are reasonably friendly but not particularly helpful. One of the windows in our room was so broken it allowed the very strong winds to blow into our room, and snow came in during a heavy flurry. We rang reception, who sent a member of staff to look at it. She said “lots of our customers are complaining about how bad their windows are, but we can’t get hold of the manager of housekeeping” she left our room and we heard nothing more, from her, or anyone else about it. My husband used towels to fill the gap in the window. It was so cold in our room that we could see our breath, we had to ask for a second duvet for our 10 year olds bed. Raddison, in my experience, have always been very good. Perhaps this is the exception to that rule. We won’t be going to that one again. (The list of negatives for the 4 nights that we stayed there is vast).
Breakfast was good.

We are just returning from a short weekend break here. We were given a room on the 3rd floor which was beautiful and had a huge comfortable bed!
We opted out for breakfast and ate out of the hotel at local restaurants so couldn’t comment on the food and service provided there.

The hotel is under going renovations however it didn’t affect us or the areas we used.

Augusta on reception was especially helpful. We visited on a weekend with severe weather warnings meaning all our trips were cancelled. One of the only things we could find still running was the hop on hop off city bus tour which I booked online to find I needed to print the voucher. She very kindly let me email over the voucher and printed for me.
She was more than helpful on all occasions.

If we were to return, I would definitely put this hotel as first choice to stay again.
