We stayed for two nights at the end of a hectic weeks tour in Jon's charming appartment. It was the perfect base with plenty of room for the family to spread out a little and relax. The harbour and centre are within walking distance and a local swimming pool nearby was easy to get to. Excellent end to an active holiday! Thank you.

Our trip was for a family wedding (UK/US couple). We stayed in the main part of the house (there are two other flats available) with other family members.
The house is located next door to the Finnish embassy, so you that gives you an idea of the area it is located in.
The quality of the decor and the fittings are excellent. Recently refurbished, and very clean. Of particular note was the huge kitchen and the upstairs bathroom which are both fabulous. The downstairs bathroom is OK, and I am sure the owner will be upgrading it over time.
The house is typical Iceland in that it is very warm. The location is quiet, and the walk down into the town and harbour makes for a very pleasant stroll. Only minor downside is that the supermarket is at the bottom of the hill, so if you are buying lots of supplies and you haven't rented a car, you will have to carry them back up the hill.

Room Tip: The upstairs bathroom is fabulous. Take one of the rooms up there.

We stayed in the studio apartment for two nights in April 2017. The apartment was simple and fairly basic, but very comfortable, clean, and had everything we needed. The comfortable double bed is separated from the kitchen with a wall, though it is not closed off. There was a small kitchen table, a kitchenette with fridge, microwave, sink and stove and all the basic utensils we'd need to cook, eat and drink there. The bed was very comfortable and we got two really great nights of sleep there!

Location was near the old harbor, a very easy walk to Harpa and the harbor to meet tours. It was about a 20-25 minute walk to the heart of downtown where we had most of our meals and shopping experiences.

We stayed in the garden annex at the end of March. Apartment was exactly what we were after - basic, but clean and comfortable and a great base to relax in before or after a day in the city. Excellent value for money, too. I was a bit wary as it was cheaper than other similar accommodation, but needn't have worried.

The apartments are close to the Old Harbour area, which has quite a few restaurants and Harpa a little further on. About 10 minutes from the main shopping area (6-7 minutes from the Settlement Museum). Although tour companies/buses don't pick up directly from this location at the moment, there are hotels about 5 minutes away you can go to, so still convenient.

We also appreciated having self-catering facilities, to save a little on food costs (there's a Vindir supermarket about 10 minutes away, and there are a few little supermarkets in the main shopping area too). Kitchen has a two-ring hob, microwave and all the preparation materials and crockery you need. And a kettle of course (vital!).

There's also a comfy bed, sofa and television, small dining table and cabinet with lots of leaflets about Iceland to help plan your trip.

We didn't meet the owner on arrival, but he left clear and helpful instructions about how to get into the apartment, WiFi and so forth. My husband bumped into him a couple of days later and said he was very friendly.

The only thing I would say is that this probably isn't the accommodation for you if you're looking to party in your room/come back loud late at night - it's a residential area and while we didn't hear any street noise from the apartment, you could hear what was going on in the driveway. So you do need to be considerate of your fellow guests and neighbours!

For anyone else, providing you're not after luxury, I'd highly recommend 32 Tungata.

This is an easy to find and reach place in Reykjavik, and city downtown is just few minutes walk from here. Local attractions are also easily accessible by foot, like the city Square, parliament building, a magnificent church etc.
The owner is very helpful and all the instructions were given clearly for us to be able to get in, even in his absence.
The apartment itself is a beautiful property with many floors separately rented out to different groups. We were a group of four friends and we were lodged in the basement with two bedrooms, a kitchen, living room and one toilet. Apartment is well heated with Icelandic hot spring water available and kitchen has a cooking range, oven, refrigerator, coffee maker and cups n dishes available.
It snowed heavily on our second day (most in one 24 hour period since 1935!!) and our hired car, the street and walkway /driveway of the house were in knee deep snow.... But John was there when it stopped snowing to clear our and other guest's walkway so that we could get out.
The toilet door does not get locked though, so other person needs to be aware that someone is in.
