We just returned from Iceland and had a great experience with Hotel Holt. Due to weather delays (which changed several times) they were very accommodating to us and refunded our money for the nights we missed. When we finally arrived, the staff was so friendly and helpful. Our suite was very spacious. The location was a quick walk to the downtown area! And, the breakfast provided every day was very good. The staff recommended a wonderful place for dinner on our final night there, Snaps. All in all, a very pleasant stay! I would stay there again.

Dear cwhite2266,

First of all, thank you for your lovely review!
We are so happy that you had a comfortable stay with us. We try very hard to provide our guests with good customer service and are happy that everything worked out, despite the delays with flights and bad weather!

We hope we will see you back here next time you visit Reykjavík :-)
Warm regards from everyone at Hotel Holt,
Alda Marín

Disappointed hotel never informed of the repairs as drills and knocking did have a heavy impact on our stay. Would have liked a hot meal in the hotel in the evening instead of having to make our way into town

Dear Peter G,

First of all, thank you for your recent stay with us. We hope you enjoyed your experience of Iceland.

We are currently working on some renovations. This is a necessary step to ensure that the hotel meets the standards our guests and we have for our facility. Of course, we are very sorry that this coincided with your stay, though of course there never is a truly good time for renovations. Every attempt is made to contact guests in advance, unfortunately we do not always receive contact information.

We are very excited for the opening of restaurant HOLT in February. We have also provided all of our guests with discounts at two excellent restaurants close by. Hopefully you took advantage of this gesture on our behalf.

Warm regards from snowy Reykjavík,
Alda Marín

We booked via BA as part of a short break package. The hotel was very quite with probably only 20 or so people in residence. On arrival we were informed that the hotel bar and restaurant were closed for refurbishment, BA made no mention of this! Something I will be contacting them about. The room (312) was on the small side but clean. There was little or no storage, two tiny drawers and no shelf space at all. Bathroom was clean but very small along with the towels and not what we expected for a hotel with 4 stars. Tea and coffee making facilities in the room but no milk provided, only powdered creamer. We had bath robes but our friends in the next room didn’t but were supplied when requested. Outside of the bathroom there was no mirror and limited electrical outlets. Our safe didn’t work but not a real issue. The bed was comfortable with two separate single duvets for the queen size bed and 4 decent pillows. Breakfast was ok, buffet style but no option for cooked to order. The hotel is located 5 minutes from the centre in a mainly residential area/street. The hotel looks old and it’s dark furnishings and the dark wall coverings don’t help the look. Staff were pleasant and helpful. Hotel has off road parking. In summary I don’t think the hotel fully deserves its 4 star rating based on the room we had.

Dear Ian R,

Thank you very much for writing your review, we very much appreciate you taking the time!
We are of course sorry that the restaurant and bar were closed during your stay.
This is due to our previous in-house restaurant, Gallery, closing - and a new partnership with the exciting restaurant HOLT opening in end of February. During this stage of transition we offer our guests discounts at two excellent neighborhood restaurants.

I am glad that you found your room to be clean and the beds comfortable. However we will make sure to correct the few things you mention in your comment as soon as possible.

As you might know, Hotel Holt was built in 1965 and so, all aspects of the interior decor and ambiance are the product of time the hotel was established. We are very proud of the personal and warm experience we can provide which is unique in Iceland where so many hotels are modern and simple. The first floor of the hotel is listed as a cultural heritage site of Iceland and all physical aspects of it are protected by law and cannot be altered in any way.

Warm regards from everyone at Hotel Holt,
Alda Marín

Very friendly staff. Our trip was delayed to crazy winter weather and I communicated via email to let the staff know of our changes. Got a very quick response. Our suite was very spacious with a large sitting room. Fantastic breakfast was included. The day we had an early morning excursion they had breakfast set up bit earlier than the 7:00 starting time for our group of 6. Great location on a quiet residential street with easy walking access to the restaurants, shopping and local places of interest.
