Description: Icelandic traditional food Cafe Loki offer Icelandic meat soup, Icelandic sample plates, homemade bread and cakes. Icelandic traditional homemade dishes are our specialty. You can taste fermented shark and dried fish but Icelandic meat soup and our Icelandic plates are most popular among the Rye Ice cream and Skyr cake. Beautiful view over Reykjavik, Hallgrimskirkja church and to mountain Blafjoll. Icelandic food.

This is across the street from the big Lutheran Church, so you can sit in the sun and watch people come and go. One of the best carrot cakes I've ever had. We originally stopped because a local told us it was one of the last places to get traditional food, but I wasn't ready for mashed fish at that hour of the morning.

Café Loki is right across from the famous Leif Erikkson cathedral and sculpture garden. The main floor space is a bit small, but it is a café and they do have an upstairs seating area. They offer an array of traditional Icelandic fare and all of it was delicious. The pricing is rather tourist pricing, but we went back a second time while we there. The first stop we were on tour with limited time and folded up our breads into sandwiches and carried them with us.

A fantastic cafe to sit, eat, talk and admire the view. We had the Icelandic meat soup. A very hearty and delicious meal filled with meat and vegetables with a side of delicious bread finished off with a nice red wine. The staff were very friendly and the service was fast.

Everything from fermented shark to smoked trout to mashed fish and lamb soup is on this menu. We were looking for a place that had it all so that we could experience authentic traditional dishes. It’s a cozy cafe, quick service and also has a visual menu to help you see what the options look like - very helpful.

We stopped by late in the afternoon for a coffee and cake on our walk around Reykjavík. There are 4 or 5 outside tables and plenty of seating in a really nicely decorated setting. The menu was pretty varied with local dishes (herring, shark etc) and cakes and drinks. Service was super friendly and fast. We had coffee (which passed the test of the coffee snob husband) and chocolate cake which we both loved. Can’t comment on the rest of the menu but those around us seemed very happy with what they were eating. 2 hot drinks and 1 piece of
chocolate cake cost the equivalent of £20 - well priced for expensive Reykjavik.
