Tammer is radiating history and well-renoved respecting history. Lobby and breakfast room are beautiful. Rooms are bit small but combine well old and new. Old-style toilets with high toilet tanks and bathtubs underline this. Rooms have good selection of amneties (iron, ironing board).

Hotel did not seem to have a gym. Minus for a business hotel. Sauna was closed due to covid. There was a restaurants down-stairs. Not too many reasons to linger at hotel, but as it is very central, this was not a problem. Fabriikki and Finlayson renovated factory areas are just next-door.

Parking is limited. There are city 6-8 parking places in the front of entrance, 18€ day. You can either pay at the reception or through apps. There are parking garages close-by but it means you have to drag luggage all the way to hotel.

Breakfast was good. Ambiance of breakfast hall is a major plus.

Reception was swift and polite. But all in all self-service hotel.

All in all, you pay much for historical ambiance (often lacking in Finnish hotels) and central location.

Hotel Tammer is a classic, built in 1929 and restored with care.

The location is perfect by the river Tammerkoski, in the heart of Tampere.
Next to many museums and walking distance from the main railway station.

Unfortunately, due to the pandemic, some services were restricted. I didn’t even go to breakfast, which was a bit pricey and not included in the room charge.

Hotel’s interior is full of stylish details and worth of a little indoor expedition. Outdoor terrace is also nice (in summertime), a perfect place to have a drink before exploring the nightlife of Tampere.

I was disappointed to find out that standards had deteriorated at this hotel. Sauna closed, no newspapers, no candy or lobby coffee service. But the worst was breakfast. Room number was checked without greetings, coffee was not served to the table and it ran out as well. Not sure why it is called ”Super breakfast” as freshly pressed orange juice and omelettes cost extra. There is also almost no parking outside the hotel. Overall not acceptble as the room prices are quite high.
