Very nice place!
We completely enjoy the panorama, colours, sea, silence and relax.
People were very kind and service also good (local beer is very good).
Sauna was very relaxing and sunset beautiful.
Very far from Italy, but I’ll come back at the first opportunity.

First time in Kylmäpihlaja. Absolutely love this little island.

We spent two hours walking, looking at the sea and we had a little picnic.
If you come to Rauma on summer, this is a must!
There is also a restorant and coffeeplace in Kylmäpihlaja.

Kylmäpihlaja Lighthouse Hotel (Kylmäpihlajan majakkahotelli) is situated on the small rocky island of Kylmäpihlaja, 50 minutes by waterbus from the center of Rauma (Poroholma Holiday Center). Transfer tickets are sold in a separate ticket booth in Poroholma Holiday Center (they can't be bought on the boat). It could be a good idea to book tickets online in advance.

Kylmäpihlaja Lighthouse is a once in a lifetime experience. It is far from a five star hotel or even far from a four star hotel. However, the experience is so unique that I give the rating 5.

Rooms are situated in the lighthouse tower (not in a separate building like in some other lighthouse hotels). There aren't own toilets or showers in rooms. So these are shared with other customers. There isn't air conditioning in rooms. If the weather is fine, it is fun to keep the window open and listen to the sounds of the sea and birds. The view is amazing. However, all noise from the staircase could be easily heard in the room. It would be a good idea to have double doors in rooms (if they are allowed in the historical building). Otherwise rooms are very comfortable.

There is an excellent but informal restaurant (a table reservation may be needed) in the lighthouse building and a summer cafeteria near the lighthouse. A sauna is located in the first floor. Public sauna is included in the room price (women at 5-6 pm, men at 6-7 pm). A private sauna costs 20 euros/hour. There aren't good swimming possibilities on the island. There is a free campfire site near the lighthouse.

Kylmäpihlaja Lighthouse is situated in Selkämeri National Park (Selkämeren kansallispuisto). You can see gooses and terns everywhere. Large parts of the island were closed during our stay due to nesting terns. There are also snakes in every paradise, also on this island. We saw three snakes in boulder fields. You don't need to worry about snakes if you walk on a solid rock. Snakes love stone burrows and we saw snakes in the boulder soil. So don't go to walk on the fields of separate stones if you don't like snakes. As said solid rocks or cliffs are safe.

Actually these solid rocks and cliffs near the lighthouse are wonderful places to sit down, relax and take photos, e.g. portraits or nature photos. So remember to take a good camera with you.

The best part of our holiday was to watch the wonderful sunset on the top of the lighthouse tower. I will remember it forever! The sunrise was extremely beautiful, too.

Room tip: The suite (Aava-sviitti) has views to 4 directions

If you sail gulf of Bothnia near coast of Rauma, have a wave free day or two in pleasant enviroment. There is also ferry to town so you can easily expand your journey to visit old rauma which is one of world heritage sites.

Room tip: There is no elevator so remember that when booking your room.

Excellent service from the start. We felt very welcome. Nice, clean rooms with see view. The weather was sunny but it wouldn't matter if it was raining or stormy.
Worth to stay overnight:) but also a shorter visit is possible.

The food was excellent too and not over priced.
