This hostel is in a great location and accessible by bus 25, but has some real issues. I arrived with a reservation at 7.45 pm at the end of August to find the whole place locked and a sign on the door saying it closes at 9pm and giving a number to ring. A security person arrived and checked me and another waiting person in and gave us our keys. This service cost an extra 20 Euros (plus VAT). When I made my reservation some weeks before I had advised that I would not be arriving until after 7pm.
There are small clean kitchens on both floors with microwave, hotplates and an electric kettle but absolutely no cutlery or crockery. Most lights in the mens' bathroom did not work. The hot water was set at lukewarm, the soap dispenser in the shower was broken. The rooms are very prison cell-like and the beds to match. I'd say it was the worst mattress I have slept on in ten years of travelling - not because it was worn out but because it was so cheaply made.
On the up-side the adequate breakfast was included in the price (as is usual) and the place was clean. The staff were chilly and disinterested, except for one young woman who did all the morning kitchen work (she was happy for me to borrow some cutlery and crockery for following nights). In this and other respects the place has gone downhill since two years ago. It is no cheaper than far better budget hotels in the city. Tip - bring your own eating equipment, arrive early and complain about the beds.
