I was really excited visit to the pretty famous and much praised NOKKA restaurant in Helsinkis Katajanokka neighborhood.
The building itself greets with a gigantic steel propeller, as the location was a former ship chandler‘s warehouse. Exposed brick walls and cozy, warm atmosphere lightened by candles welcomes you entering the restaurant.
The food is exceptional. We had the menu ‚Nokka‘, which is a four course menu (actually it’s almost 6 😉) consisting of mostly local finish ingredients and highlighted by wild reindeer from a small herder in Sallo, Lapland. Every single dish we were served by the perfectly trained and very professional staff was perfect. And when I say ,perfect‘, I mean it. I’ve added some pictures to the review.
The wines were carefully selected, we opted for a flight of different wines corresponding to the menu. Especially the ‚RAJA‘ Riesling was exceptional.
NOKKA is not cheap. But it’s worth every penny. For me, probably the best restaurant experience ever.
