A place to which we often return, and there have been so far no major disappointments. However, something remained to be said, especially when the matter was not asked during the meal. Trust in one's own perfection? Praise first: the wine pairing was once again excellent. salmon and scallop appetizers are perfect, memorable. "Bortsch" broth is tasty and the idea is fun. But: for the second time already in Passio, we encounter unsuccessful ravioli: thick dry and partly raw edges and a rather tasteless vegetable filling. Would pelmeni filled with meat or mushrooms fit better with this soup? Lamb, as many other dishes, had 5-7 ingredients/serving: sometimes the main idea gets lost. But see you again soon.

The food was inventive. The best part was the bread. You have to keep an open mind because they don’t have a menu, you choose either a 3 course or a 5 course. We could not choose for one person to have a 3 course and the other, a five. This irritated me at the start of the night.

The amuse bouche was good, the starter was like a fish like sushi dish. I am allergic to nuts and don’t take red meat so the kitchen served me squid ink risotto w salted octopus. The octopus was too salty. Husband had duck which was tasty but too small a portion for him.

While knowledgeable, service was cold and unavailable. I literally had to get off my seat twice to get attention. Once to order another glass of wine and another for coffee.

Really good food let down by very mediocre service.

Gorgeous dinner, very chic and interesting (and surprising- you don’t get to choose). I like good tasting food rather than stuff that pushes the boundaries, but this was a very satisfying dinner.

We enjoy the five course menue and we’re surprised about the combinations and the finesse of Scandinavian food!

We visit Passio every time we come to Helsinki but haven’t reviewed it since 2015. We understand that a surprise menu is not to everyone’s taste but they do check with your dietary requirements and allergies / dislikes. The food was excellent - we went for the three course menu which included two other additional courses. Food and service is a very high standard, but not cheap. Still the place we would book for our next visit.
