Decent hotel in good location, friendly staff, clean and quiet, large breakfast buffet; tram stop in front of entrance (10-15min to center), shopping mall within 3min walk, close to congress facilities, convenient for SLUSH. negative: I missed a “real” coffee at breakfast, storage for cloths was quite tight.

The good things first. Our room was recenlty renovated and clean. Chromecast was a nice surprise. What comes to price, this hotel was pretty affordable. The staff at breakfast was friendly. The location was great. The tram number 2 goes straight to Kauppatori. The new Tripla shopping center is next to the hotel.
But then, hotel was very under staffed in every way. Check in was very slow, because there was only one receptionist. There was a long queue to the breakfast and it was pretty chaotic when there were a lot of people in a small breakfast area waiting for food and drinks. Warm vegetarian food options were very limited. There wasn't a coffee machine or a kettle in the room. The heater of the room kept making a very loud sound at night time.
Now under Scandic brand the hotel is partially freshly renoved. Rooms great and sound proof, bed quality fine.
Location is great just next to the Tripla mall and walking distance to the fair center, Hartwall arena, old hockey hall and the olympic stadium. Just the other side you’ll find Central park.
Parking carage (drive way a bit narrow) or outside. You can use public transport easily. Pasila train station 300 meters away and tram stop just next to the hotel.
Sauna, gym, fitness room, restaurant, bar, nice staff and reasonable pricing. That’s Scandic Pasila.
We ended up here through many coincidences. Our original booking was to a suite at Holiday Inn Expo at Easter. Holiday Inn Expo closed its doors and our booking was changed to Scandic Pasila and still at Easter. Scandic Pasila was closed during Easter and I changed the booking to the end of April.
I wanted to keep this reservation because our price was quite good 222 euros compared to the normal rate of around 400 euros or Scandic Friends rate over 300 euros.
We have stayed in the same suite in 2013 when the hotel was a Sokos Hotel. All rooms and public spaces were renovated when Scandic started its operation here. Only bathrooms were kept like they were.
The suite is spacious and more stylish now. There is a sauna and the jacuzzi is still working although the room description only says a bathtub.
The reception staff was very friendly. They moved the reservation to my partner's name. So he got the Scandic points, a 15 euros restaurant voucher, and a Scandic TOP-level welcome gift. The original reservation was in my name because I am an IHG member where Holiday Inns belong to.
The breakfast was pleasantly calm. The food selection was good.
Would I pay 400 euros for this suite? No, you get better value at the suites of the nearby Sokos Hotel Tripla or Holiday Inn Expo.

Restaurant was great in the evening and the breakfast was delicious. Safety measures were maintained at all times everywhere in the hotel. The room was clean and silent. Sleep 10/10. Very nice staff. I’ll defo visit this exact site again!
This hotel is a former Sokos Hotel which was changed to Scandic as the nearby Sokos Hotel Tripla was opened. There has been a complete refurbishment except for the bathrooms.
We booked a Superior Family Four room. The suites are overpriced in my opinion. Junior suites are only 3 sqm bigger but 150 euros more expensive. We paid 88 euros for our room.
As a Scandic Friends Top Level member, my partner got a 15 euros voucher for the bar. At the moment, the restaurant is not open in the evenings. Also, a welcome gift was delivered to the room.
The restaurant vouchers have finally come back after a half-year pause because of the corona pandemic.
The new room decor is very stylish. Family rooms are spacious (30 sqm) with a sofa bed.
The breakfast was quite average. Some of the usual Scandic items were missing.
The reception staff was very friendly.
