The location is perfectly in the middle of the city centre, opposite of the train station. Stockmann, Kamppi and Forum shopping malls are all around the corner. Means you've everything in a walking distance. If you wanna go a bit outside of Helsinki you can choose between trains and the newly opened Metro. The breakfast in this hotel is simply amazing: oven baked porridge, fresh dark finnish bread, pancakes, selfmade cake and much much more.
The beds are super comfortable, so is the pillow. I usually have sleeping troubles in hotels but in this one I slept like a baby.
The bathroom has a decent size with a shower.
The building itself has a long history (for example hosting the first bar with a liquor licence back in the days). It still has it's old, classy style and charme which is wonderful to look at.

Although the location cannot be beat, right across the street from the central railway station, the hotel is very, very, very dated and shows it. The rooms are tired and sorry at very best, run down and unacceptable at worst. The walls may as well not exist. I could hear the guy next door sneezing as if he was sitting on the bed next to me and I was able to hear entire conversations next door. The hotel architecture is beautiful, but unfortunately it does not make up for the awful rooms. The service here is not the best, the staff is pretty indifferent, but then again Finns are not known to be the warmest people. Several years ago I had a reservation here and showed up only for them to tell me they were full even though I had a room booked. I ended up having to go down the street. The place feels a bit claustrophobic as there is only one window looking out. It seems as if there should be a second window but instead you just have an empty wall with curtains over it, making it rather depressing. The heat really does not work, there was a button hanging off of it. Not worth the price despite its incredible location! Search elsewhere!

Excellent location right opposite the railwaystation. Wonderful architecture. Great looking restaurant and bar. Rooms and corridors have not been renovated for years, but my room was clean and quiet with a nice view to Aikapiha. Part of the personnel are very friendly, part of them do not know how to do their job. If you wish to have a very central location for your Helsinki stay and you like Art Nouveau (Jugend) this is it.

She is an old dame in need of work. Our rooms were nice, clean and had been upgraded. The downstars bar takes you back in history as does the dining room. Conveniently located to everything. Will definately stay there again.

Old splendor. Lacks somethings, like sauna, but you can use the one at the nearby Holiday inn for free. Good breakfast, cool bar. Very good location. A little worn down, but a good choice if you like old school style. Friendly personnel.
