We had the best meal here! We tried 4 different dishes and loved all of them. The dumplings were our favorite but it was hard to decide as everything was delicious!
The food was incredible! I highly recommend coming here for a meal. There were plenty of gluten free options and the staff were friendly and knowledgeable
On two consecutive evenings in Helsinki I had a Georgian dinner. I very much like the cuisine of Georgia, but here I just happened to pass by the 'Gastro Hub' and the 'Rioni', when walking through the centre. As I was told both places have the same owner, but are run by different companies. 'Rioni' (named after a river in Georgia) is a Finnish chain and I already knew the branch in Turku.
At the 'Gastro Hub' I liked the big glass covered courtyard restaurant full of plants, while at the 'Rioni' I was sitting in a small front room, although when leaving I saw that they also have a glass covered courtyard at the back, just not being used at the moment. The 'Rioni' also some outdoor seating.
When it comes to the menu, the 'Rioni' definitely has the bigger choice of Georgian dishes, also of wines. The 'Gastro Hub' didn't have any Georgian red wine available, when I visited. Regarding the prices the 'Rioni' is more expensive. A Nigvziani Badrijani, my favourite Georgian starter, which I ordered at both places, cost 13 € here, while at the 'Gastro Hub' it was 10€. For a 16cl glass of Tsinantali white wine one pays here 12.50€, while at the 'Gastro Hub' it is 11€.
The waitress at the 'Rioni', who took care of me, was very friendly, professional and well informed, which I could not say of the young, always changing waitresses at the 'Gastro Hub'. Background music here was Georgian, at the 'Gastro Hub' English.
As my main course I requested to have another starter: Khinkali, one of Georgia's most famous dishes. When serving these special kind of dumplings with plenty of liquid inside, the waitress asked me, if I knew how to eat them and I told here that I had been twice to Georgia and to many Georgian restaurants, mainly in Russia and Eastern European countries.
These were the best khinkali I’ve ever had in my life, and I’ve tried a lot of them in many different places, since I’m from Georgia. Everything else in this place was exceptional as well! The staff were incredibly friendly and polite. The staff was very friendly and polite. 100/10🇫🇮🇬🇪🫶🏻😳
