We have stayed at the Scandic Grand Marina in the past and we have always considered the hotel to be fairly good. On this occasion we stayed at the hotel for 2 nights. This time we had a very bad experience as the mattress in our room was horrible. The mattress was so soft that it reacted to every movement and one sank inside the mattress, that is how soft it was. After we discussed with the front desk about the poor mattress, the front desk offered to move us to another room. We moved our belongings to the new room and the bed was equally poor. Furthermore, in the second room we could hear the plumbing make a load noise everytime someone opened the faucet in their room. The quality of the bed is critical as you expect to be able to sleep well during your stay. That was not the case for us this time. We complained about our experience at check out. The front desk person offered us bottles of water for our troubles. We declined the bottles of water.

The location of the hotel is very good if you want to visit the Helsinki city center. The breakfast is very good and offers something for everyone.

This is our favorite hotel after a Viking cruise. The hotel is located near Viking Terminal.

This time we booked a standard room at a senior rate of 104 euros. As my partner is a Scandic TOP Level member, we were upgraded to a spacious superior room.

The only thing we missed in our room were the bathrobes. Three weeks ago, we were upgraded to a superior room at Scandic Paasi. There were bathrobes but a missing kettle for making coffee. Here you could find the kettle.

I wonder why Scandic cannot harmonize the room equipment in their hotels. So when staying in a superior room you will know what you will get. At this hotel, bathrobes start only from superior sauna rooms.

Actually, our room has been a previous superior extra room because you could find both body lotion and hair conditioner from the bathroom. However, the hair conditioner had been accidentally replaced by body lotion. While being in the shower, I wondered about the odor of the hair conditioner and suspected that it is probably body lotion. I opened the wall bracket and yes, it was body lotion also here.

The breakfast has always been well handled here. You can find more tables from the bar.
