Description: The restaurant manager Francesco Cereda and head chef Cesare Lovati want to create the a family-like work environment spirit to Katajanokka - a large, loud Italian-Finnish family that shares know-how and develops together. Loyal customers greeted with their names, traditional Italian classics, late evenings, this is what Locanda Scappi is all about.

The service is excellent. The servers friendly and caring. And extremely knowledgeable. And totally without pretention and snobbish behavior. This is a rare and beautiful gift in Finland. (Where most waitors think they have something to teach you, and do not understand that you have come to eat and the food speaks for itself.)
In Locanda Scampi the waiters are just friendly, inviting, helpful and let their excellent food prepared by the Italian chefs in the Italian speaking kitchen speak for itself so well that you never want your mouth to stop listening. Their fettuccine Alfredo... So good, so simple, so advanced in its simplicity. The hand rolled spaghetti for the carbonara... Wow! The truffles! The wine. Go here. Try everything on the menu. Nothing - absolutely nothing will disappoint. The menu is not very long but excellent. Finnish chefs have something to learn here. Prices are just right.

Hands down the best Italian restaurant in town.

All the pasta and ravioli are handmade (there are not many places that does it even in Italy), using traditional recipes and high quality ingredients.
You are not gonna find the usual spaghetti or maccheroni, but instead freshly made pici (Tuscan hand rolled spaghetti) and even handmade orecchiette (almost better that the one I had in Puglia).

Good selections of Italian wines (would be nice to see some small produces tho).

Service is friendly and professional, they make you feel welcome and at home.

This place is an hidden gem, it's the only place where you can try the real Italian cusine.

P.s try their homemade tagliolini in the cheese wheel with truffle.

It's been a while - not much of socializing in restaurants these days. However, we had dinner at our neighbourhood favourite and we were not disappointed. The house prosecco had a nice, fruity character while we pondered the menu. Oven baked scallops were tasty (why don't they have salt at the tables?) and a polpette di bollito misto with salsa verde was equally good. The Taglitelle al ragú di calamare was perfect! The pasta al dente and the slightly sour sea-salty taste to the tomato sauce was sublime. Service, as usual, friendly, welcoming and efficient. One negative comment: If the staff does not use a face mask they could at least try to observe a bit of distance, thank you.

Authentic & very tasty Italian food (& wine) at a very reasonable price. The service was great too – genuine and relaxed yet very professional. Be sure to try the amazing cacio e pepe! (...and melanzane alla parmigiana... & tiramisu... Just try everything!!)
