We were staying in Salla Tunturin Tuvat for 4 days. We booked this with Voigt Travel (perfect agency btw !!!), so most of the activities at the Reindeer Park were included. We had the Reindeer Park tour, Husky farm visit, canoeing day and midnight hike. All with the same guide, who was brilliant in our opinion. Because we were doing this in summer period, almost everything was "private" - just the four of us (2 adults, and two sons of age 12 and 15) + the guide. Those are all experiences we will never forget, none of us. Here you can really feel the Lapland way of life, living together with the nature around you. We had so much good vibes here, that it took us days to get used to our stupid live in Belgium once we were back … Only remark : you have to like animals / dogs to enjoy the husky farm. If you hate dogs, don't go there. If you like them : they will like you too !!
Staying in Salla Tunturin Tuvat, we spent a lot of time in this park. We enjoyed full day activities, all good, enjoyable and even impressive. Reindeer tour is relax (make sure to wear enough as you sit still for quite some time), snowshoe walk (don’t wear too much when good weather), husky tour (whow, that was real fun!). The outdoor lunches were really awesome. Open fire and in no time with a little magic the guide provided us with a nice bowl. The lunch takes quite some time, but why not take the opportunity to enjoy the surroundings?
I noticed some reviews on animal well-being, but l’m confident that the guides genuinly care for them and not just for the money.
Visited with my 11 year old son, was here last year and is great to be back, did the husky sled driving, snow shoe trekking, ice fishing, night time reindeer safari and daytime reindeer sleigh driving. All booked separately and all highly recommended, the staff are great, always on hand, always have a smile and answer any questions answered.
We once again had a ball 👍
Big thank you to everyone at the park.
Fabulous 3 hour trip by reindeer, please take the overalls and blankets that are offered to you, it’s freezing just sitting in a sleigh and you will need them! The sleighs are single seater but under 13’s can sit with an adult, which will help to keep you warm. The fire stop was entertaining and a welcome “warm up” with hot berry juice, hot chocolate and a biscuit, best to eat before you go! Even though it was nighttime your eyes adjusted and the terrain was beautiful, it was great to stop and feed the young reindeer, they were very happy to see us. It was over all too quickly but it was thoroughly enjoyed by all our group and worth every euro! We did not see the northern lights on the safari, but at midnight the same night we were treated to a fabulous display by Salla lake! It will be a collective memory I take to my grave - WOW!
We took part in the 3 hour reindeer ride and absolutely loved it. We were a small group (4 people including us) which was a nice surprise. We did not feel like tourists, more like visiting a friend on his reindeer farm. Our guide Lars was super nice and friendly, told very interesting stories and answered all of our questions with never ending enthusiasm. The reindeers are so calm and cute you can see that the staff really cares about them. It’s nice that you learn the name of your reindeer and hear a few stories about his character. You really feel connected with „your“ reindeer after the ride.
The ride itself was amazing, you drive through a snowy winter wonderland in your own sled.
We are seriously considering coming back to Lapland just to visit Salla reindeer farm and go on another trip.
This was a very nice experience, we booked through Crystal Ski TUI and the landscape was amazing. It was supposed to be a 'Northern Lights Reindeer Safari" but unfortunately for us, it was too cloudy.
The biggest disappointment for me was the fire stop. We were all squashed around a tiny fire which should have been started before we got there as we got completely smoked out. Took two washes to get the smoke out especially when its your ski coat, its not pleasant while skiing. If I knew I would have taken some overalls. Also thought the fire was within a hut similar to the Snowmobile Lappish hut experience.
Also I don't know if we read it wrong when we booked, but we thought it was 2 persons per sleigh when in fact it is only one person per sleigh. This is not a negative note - Just extra information.
Before the fire stop, we stopped at the reindeer farm and managed to feed a lot of the younger reindeer, this was a nice experience. Especially nice for kids!
