“nice to see, never to return”
Reviewed 24 January 2010

I've been in Santa Claus Village in november 2009.

i have to say that i was expecting for more. There is nothing else but 5-6 buildings all with some things about santa to sale.
you need around 3 hours to see them all but after seeing 3 or 4 shops you will find out that all sale the same things.
i think thr only really intresting thing is the polar night/day

“commercialised in a nice way”
Reviewed 10 January 2010

we went here under our own steam Via the number 8 bus,it cost us 16 euros return for 2 adults and a child which was fine from rovaniemi
although santa was free the queue to see him was horrific well over an hour,I would recommend going early or late
we found the shops here to be cheaper than in rovaniemi(its all relative in finland of course=expensive country)
reindeer furs were 60 euros and i got a really nice wool cardigan for 100E reduced from 200
there is a lovely little wooden teepee with a guy doing hot drinks, bread salmon and salad,we went in to his little hut and i was blown away how nice it was ,highly recommend the food in his hut
1 warning apart from the brits most europeans do NOT queue, we waited for the return bus for 30 minutes in like -8 deg.when it showed up a mob of finns rushed to the front of the queue in front of elderly people and families with pushchairs
things were looking nasty but the driver illegally squeezed about 100 people onto a single decker bus
I am pretty sure that the snowmobiling was a lot cheaper here than in rovaniemi itself

“Truly Magical”
Reviewed 2 January 2010

I went to Lapland on 13th December 2009 with Thomas Cook. From Start to Finish it was amazing. Quite and expensive one day trip but well worth it. In our party there were 5 adults and 2 kids, a 6 yr old and 8yr old and for them it was magnificent. Eveything was included in the price, suits n boots, lunch, Reindeer Ride, Huskie RIde. Visit to Santa and gifts for the kids, Finish story round a log fire then sledging for the kids. We finished off the day at Santa Village which is absolutely stunning and kids had a ball. We would have liked a bit longer here as we only got an hour but this was because we were delayed a bit going due to the weather back home. The Thomas Cook staff were fantastic, Santas Little helper was excellent and was with us the whole day from checking in at Glasgow Airport to landing back home. We had singsongs for the Kids with some of the old Christmas Favourites and whenver I hear "When Santa got Stuck up the Chimney" it will always bring back amazing memories of this day in Lapland. Well done Thomas Cook, a fab day and can't wait to do it all again!!!

“Santa Clause Village and First Choice Holiday”
Reviewed 30 December 2009

First Choice bring you here on your taster they tell you its really cheap. There are lots of small shops and you do have to hunt for the bargains it is a glorified shopping mall. For the children to go on anything meaningfull you have to pay this includes the ice slides etc. For food dont eat here the reps and elves dont they ALL eat across the road in the shell garage and its far better value for money. Again you arrive here along with another 10 first choice coaches so its pretty busy and ques for food are big

“Magical! This is a must do with the kids!”
Reviewed 29 December 2009

I travelled with three kids (4,6,7) and three adults and we all had a ball! The kids were mesmerised by the "real" santa and sped down the ice-slides for hours. The photos with santa are expensive (you can't take your own) but hey - this is a once in a lifetime experience. If you want souvenirs this is the place to get them, the prices and selection are much better than in town. We all posted cards at the official post office which took a while to arrive as it was just before Christmas, but it was really exciting when they did. You cross the arctic circle here which is fab (and of course we bought the certificate!). This is a magical place and I can't recommend it highly enough!
