This hotel is truly exceptional. The rooms are a little compact but are cosy, really well designed and decorated and the hidden kids bed is a delight. The hotel staff are excellent and we enjoyed the excursions booked through the hotel especially the visit to Santa which was so well done.

Rovaniemi is a small town located in the far north of Finland, in Lapland and almost inside the Arctic Circle (which I did actually get to cross into :-))
This quaint hotel has a selection of room types and I was really spoilt and was afforded a stay in the ArcticScene Executive Suite as well as the Arctic GlassHouse. Both room categories are absolutely beautiful, comfortable, warm, snuggly, romantic, and quite like nothing else I have stayed in. The bath in the ArcticScene suite is incredible! It has a huge window that overlooks the forest and when you want more privacy, a quick press of a button mists the window entirely. Very cool feature. I love being in nature and at the Arctic TreeHouse Hotel, that is exactly what you feel like, all around you there are pine trees, hares, squirrels and snow flakes. I was there on business, their SantaPark venue hosted an event for us, and I can speak true testament to the staff from planning, to check in, to the event to the food. I felt as though I was working with family.
One final compliment I can give is for the restaurant RAKAS! They have a great selection of food and even vegan options including the Beyond Meat Burger!!!

Room tip: The ArcticScene Suites are truly sublime.

I planned to stay at this hotel in March 2020 but due to this coronavirus outbreak I have to postpone my trip. Not that I want to postpone or cancel the trip but I will be asked to self quarantine for 14 days in Norway (1st stop in Norway then off to Rovaniemi) so this make the trip IMPOSSIBLE.
The hotel is generous enough to let me change the date of stay but with the condition that I have to provide the new arrival date prior to my original one (which is like 5 days from now) I find it very hard to fix the new date with the time frame given. I understand the situation the hotel is facing also but I only ask for some more time. Not that I will cancel my stay since I already prepaid for it but I'm just just asking for some generosity during this difficult time but it just seem impossible.
I guess I will just have to pick a date to stay with a very bad first impression even before my arrival.

We stayed for 5 wonderful days and cannot recommend it highly enough - everything about the Arctic Tree House is truly beautiful and so respectful of nature. You literally blend into the stunning environment of Lapland which creates a very special and magical experience.

From arrival to leaving, we were impressed with the warm, friendly staff who deliver excellent customer service but are never intrusive - you can trust they are there if you need them but otherwise you are left to totally relax and enjoy the unique architecture and respectful approach to the environment - the whole resort captivates you and instils a deep feeling of tranquility and relaxation.

The “nests” are constructed to a very high standard, you are treated to high end finishing - no expense has been spared on the furnishings, from the incredibly comfortable beds to the luxurious cosy throws you can wrap up in and enjoy the changing Arctic light and snowscapes from the warmth and panoramic aspects of your room.

We divided our time between a front row suite offering a view directly into the snow capped forest and then to the amazingly spacious and highly luxurious Arctic Scene Executive Suite which perches high on the hill - it was from here we were blessed with the most amazing display of the Northern Lights which we could watch from the warmth of the room. Truly incredible.

The food was of very high quality and the service in the Rakas restaurant and also in room dining was prompt and efficient - food choices varied and tasty and pricing very reasonable, particularly considering that the Nordic region is ordinarily very expensive. The inclusive breakfast is excellent with a huge choice of local delicacies to international options - you are spoilt for choice and will be more than adequately fuelled for your activities in the day ahead.

You can truly detox from every day life here but adrenaline and fun are easy to find too - excursions from ice floating and snow mobiling to the staple reindeer and husky safaris are all within easy reach of the resort, so you can be enjoying your snowy, sunny and blue sky days or star lit evenings in next to no time rather than spend hours stuck in transit.

Thank you to all the team, particularly Johannes and his colleagues (apologies I didn’t catch all their names) at customer services who were fun, friendly and very helpful throughout our stay.

I had been in dialogue with the customer service team in advance of our stay to ensure arrangements were put in place for a special surprise birthday celebration - this was dealt with very efficiently, nothing was an effort and the surprise was carried out in a lovely warm manner.

We loved every minute we spent here and left with a wonderful impression of our time in Finland - we will be back time and time again.

Based on the on-line images and combined with the price, it’s probably fair to say our expectations were high! We assumed we were going to a dreamy hotel in a tranquil forest.
The on line information promises ‘an unforgettable accommodation experience and exceptional restaurant’. This was exactly what we were looking for! There were two of us so we assumed the double bed suite would be just right as the web site seemed to indicate anything else was for larger groups.

The dream began to fade as we pulled into a resort very close to the highway and with the overhead sound of aircraft on final approach to Rovaniemi airport.

Reception is ‘boutique hotel’ with smiling staff and a lovely local warming drink. So far, so good.

Mmm...we arrived at our ‘suite’ ..and then - and I hate to write bad reviews but this is going to be one...

We could see the runway warning lights from the room and the highway along with some neon lighting....and quite a bit of light pollution.

Our so called suite was not a suite at all, it was a room with the bed in the middle. We had a huge panoramic window which looked onto trees, a turning area and some sort of lit track or road (and the highway, etc). The bathroom - was cramped and contrived. One sink, a loo squashed in so you cannot sit without bashing the loo roll. Water is hot for 40 mins only then you have to wait another 2 hours for it to heat up. It a bathroom for one person in a room for two people. You have to manoeuvre the shower doors to open them as they are bent in to increase space!

Communication with reception is via WhatsApp only they didn’t answer. We know that because on our first morning at 07.25 in minus 6, our power went off! So we had to call..or try to!

There’s an SOS button on the room iPad. They didn’t answer that either. So we telephoned from our mobiles to the number on the web site, and guess what .. no answer there either. This meant one of us had to get dressed and trek through the snow to find help.

Things didn’t improve at reception, ...they denied any calls had been missed either WhatsApp, the SOS or via the hotel number! They were more interested in arguing that they hadn’t had any calls rather that talking about the problem with the power.

We had to wait for an hour for an engineer. However, as we were without power and couldn’t use the free coffee facilities in the room, so we took two coffees ‘to go’ to the room - the hotel then tried to charge us for those coffees!
We’d informed the hotel on the first night that the coffee machine was faulty, it remained faulty for the three night stay. The problem with the power was the coffee machine which kept tripping the power.

At no time were staff proactive. There was no evidence of any management.
This is not a luxury hotel, there simply is nothing that warrants the luxury description apart from perhaps..the nearly 600 euros per night we paid...

We could for the price of this have stayed at the Ritz London, with champagne, afternoon tea and breakfast and had a sink each and most importantly good customer service.
It’s a shame because everything in this country had been friendly, helpful and customer focussed - apart from this hotel.

Book with extreme care and check every detail first as this is one of those pay first, no refund hotels... even a forty euro charge if you lose your room key.... Make sure you understand exactly what you are booking. It's probably OK to book this a some sort of package tour but do not USE rack rate and book direct!

Room tip: Check every detail first before you commit and look at the location carefully

Good Day

Thank you for taking the time to provide us with this valuable feedback.

We are sorry to heard that you found the design of the room disappointing and not spacious enough.
Our property has been designed to make use of optimal space in order to support sustainable and Eco friendly building methods towards the environment. The larger the size of the hotel room, the more energy is require to heat it during the cold winter. We try to produce a cozy Scandinavian cabin that is unique and focused on getting in touch with nature.

It saddest us to hear that you experienced a electricity shortage that disrupted your stay. Our main goal is for you to be comfortable in your nest at all times. We would like to sincerely apologizing for the technical error in the room and for the fact that you felt our team lacked in communication skills and compassion.

It is true that we use modern methods to communicate to our guests like Whatsapp and a tablet. We have staff on duty at reception 24 hours and we usually do not receive complaints regarding the response time of effort of out staff. Usually our staff are praised for their kindness and attentive nature. We also have a maintenance team that is available at all times that are experts in their field.
It was not our intention to lack urgency or make your feel that we do not care about this serious issue.

Rest assured that we are taking your feedback very seriously and will do our best to make sure that it does not happen again.

We hope that you will visit us again in the future in order to give us a second chance at making a better impression.

Kind Regards
Michelle Creus
