An extempore one night visit to Visulahti didn't rise the bar how I remembered it back in the 90's. We rented two cabins from Blue block and as a special offer their Facebook pages supposed to get day tickets to the activities. I especially asked when making the reservation that do we have for all the sleepers and got positive answer.

As we arrived we got the cabins lot earlier than they promise on their sites. That was positive favour but our party of 9 people got only 4 tickets. That had to be corrected later in the evening with the manager.

The cabins were nothing special and we stayed more or less outside both days. We five could easily sleep there.

The big disappointment was that the Frisbee golf they are marketing has only a single basket in the middle of a grass field. At least I had something different in my mind. The minigolf is free of charge though I wouldn't pay for that either. Some are totally missing the carpet and on 'green' you are putting from plywood.

There are saunas to rent in evenings. We went there for morning bath and at least in Juhannus it was free. It was nice but the lake water was still freezing after cold weather.

Then we went finally to the park. There is this new Viking boat that was straight away our nine years old boy's favourite. The middle one liked the chained marry go round and the smallest enjoyed the air inflated bouncing castles and obstacle courses.

The water park side was disappointing more or less due the bad weather. The water they put in is heated up to 24°C but you can imagine how is it if the outside temperature is barely 15°C. My son had to run down one of the slides as the water amount the were using was so little and it didn't slide.

Xson was closed :(

The wax cabinet was as amusing as I could anticipate. If you know Finnish celebs you might be able to recognise some. The parents were laughing and small children were afraid. That's all what need to be said.

The indoor park is good for few hours in a rainy day as there is not more to do when the weather is bad.

If it is a hot summer day it might be worth visit if you are close by. If you are considering to ride there few hours I bet you can found something better to do with the same miles.

It first felt very old, but does have some nice activities for kids. We especially like Dinosauria, as there were plenty to do.

We visited xon park with the boys (2, 6 and 9 years). The place had nothing to offer for the 2-year-old, but quite a few things for the 6-year-old and something for the 9 year old. The activities cost between 2.5 to 5 euros if you buy multiple tickets for 50 euros. The kids liked the activities, particularly the atvs and trampolin. The downside is that the place does not have any kind of decent coffee place or restaurant and the fact that it is a bit ran down.

If you were planning on getting a review of finnish history and celebrities by visiting Visulahti wax museum, skip it and by a book or use Google instead.
If you know finnish history and celebrities and want to get a laugh mixed with shared sense of shame and don't mind wasting 15 minutes and 7 euros, you might find Visulahti wax museum worth visiting – once.

Never even think of getting anything like Madame Tussaud's. Many of the characters are not recognizable. There is no visible clue of why and which characters are chosen. The Beatles are side by side with rally legend Juha Kankkunen and a TV side act from the 80's. I heard that the wife of (former) president Mauno Koivisto has said about president's figure: "If that kind of monster lived in our house, I wouldn't."

And there is no toilet nereby.

We came to Mikkeli for visitingVisulahti, but unfortunately all the facilities were closed for all 3 days we stayed there. The reason was "rainy", but at least the ones under the roof or inside could be opened??? Very lazy personnel doing really nothing and never helping to clients...
